Tom Cruise Squeezes in a Backstage Reunion With Cuba Gooding Jr.

Tom Cruise dropped by Broadway's The Trip to Bountiful last night in NYC to catch up with his Jerry Maguire costar Cuba Gooding Jr., who is starring in the play. He hugged Cuba and chatted with him and his costar Vanessa Williams after he wrapped up an earlier appearance on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. Tom was in town to promote his new film, Oblivion, which his theaters on Friday.

During his TDS interview, Jon, who is the same age as Tom, marveled at how the actor is still able to do so many physically demanding stunts, and Tom even admitted that he doesn't know where his energy comes from. Tom also chatted about working with new director Joseph Kosinski, and revealed that he doesn't pull A-list rank when on set. Tom said, "It takes a village to make a movie. It's not about me, it's about the story. You bring a team of people together and you want them to bring their best [to the film]." His costars have a similar sense of support for the actor. Tom's Oblivion costar Olga Kurylenko told us earlier this week that she "looked up to Tom" whenever she needed help or guidance, and said that she always felt that she was in "good hands" with him.

Obama Gets Teased About Debate, Talks Gay Rights on Daily Show

Last night, President Barack Obama went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart for a mostly serious discussion of this election season's issues and how these last four years have gone.

Last night, President Barack Obama went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart for a mostly serious discussion of this election season's issues and how these last four years have gone. But it started off with a little teasing from Jon on what many (including Obama himself) consider a subpar first debate performance. Jon showed the president two photos of his wife, Michelle Obama, after the debates — one in which she's smiling and another where she doesn't look happy — and asked him which debate each one was from. Obama was a good sport, responding with a chuckle and a "Cute. Cute, Jon." But Obama was clearly ready to get down to business, mentioning how his social successes have included repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which discriminated military personnel based on their sexuality. This got cheers from the Daily Show audience, filled last night with female military veterans. And on his job of preventing things that don't work, he added, "You want a president in the oval office who's going to say, 'No, we're not going to amend our Constitution for the first time to restrict rights for gay and lesbian couples.'" See what else Obama said on the late-night show now!

Robert Pattinson Puts On a Happy Face — But Avoids Ice Cream — Talking Kristen Scandal on The Daily Show

Robert Pattinson stopped by The Daily Show With Jon Stewart today before attending the NYC premiere of Cosmopolis decked out in a slick blue Gucci suit. It was Robert's first day of publicity for the movie since his girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, was caught cheating with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. Jon Stewart managed to talk around the elephant in the room, offering Robert Pattinson ice cream and "girl talk." Robert avoided actually digging into his Karamel Sutra ice cream, joking that he didn't want to bust through his two pairs of Spanx.

Jon did lend his support, though, saying that he knows breakups can feel like the end of the world. Robert responded, "It is," though he didn't confirm or deny an actual split from Kristen. Check out the whole interview, and stay tuned for lots more Robert this week — he's ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange tomorrow and also has appearances lined up on Good Morning America and MTV.

Jon Hamm Demands an Apology From Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis

Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell got "Hammed" last night on The Daily Show when the Mad Men actor showed up for an impromptu bit during their interview.

Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell got "Hammed" last night on The Daily Show when the Mad Men actor showed up for an impromptu bit during their interview. Things were getting heated when the Campaign stars called Jon Stewart out on phoning in his interview questions, but Stewart refused to be ganged up on. Rather, he called in his similarly suited friend, Jon Hamm, and turned the tables on Ferrell and Galifianakis. Unfortunately for Stewart, the confrontation didn't exactly go as he planned, but it did make for an entertaining interview.

Former Daily Show correspondent Steve Carell made his triumphant return to "papa bear" Jon Stewart's political satire show yesterday. Steve was there to promote Crazy, Stupid, Love and he revealed that he's not sure how he will feel when the cast of The Office gets back to work at the end of the month. Steve is apparently up for a return to TV, however, since he volunteered to participate in a hypothetical Daily Show reunion with some of the other famous fellow past field reporters.

Jennifer Aniston did a quick change and stepped out in NYC today in a short black dress for tonight's appearance on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.

Jennifer Aniston did a quick change and stepped out in NYC today in a short black dress for tonight's appearance on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. Jennifer began the day on GMA talking about her "extremely lucky" and "extremely happy" personal life and later moved along to her next engagement in a chic vest and jeans, but kept her new "Norman" tattoo under wraps. Jennifer has two more days of solid promotions before Thursday night's LA premiere of her dark comedy Horrible Bosses. Her costars are also getting in on the interview action with Jason Sudeikis dropping by Conan tonight and Jason Bateman sitting down with Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow. Jennifer's nearing the end of her work obligations, which could mean a relaxing trip, perhaps even to her favorite spot in Cabo, for Jen and Justin Theroux around the Fourth of July holiday.

Do You Prefer Jon Stewart When He's Funny or Serious?

Note to self: Do not make Jon Stewart mad because he can and will unleash a world of pain on you.

Note to self: Do not make Jon Stewart mad because he can and will unleash a world of pain on you. I, like many others, tuned in to the epic smackdown between Jon Stewart and Jim Cramer last night after a week of observing the two TV personalities feud, and it was breathtakingly somber — not to mention intense.

It started with funny yet biting commentary from Stewart on The Daily Show earlier in the week about the role of CNBC in our current financial meltdown and ended last night with a brutal "interview" of the host of Mad Money (my friend Citizen has the clips and more background on the feud).

Stewart is expert at using satire to drive home his points, and The Daily Show is often a hilarious way to end the day. Last night, though, he showed that he's not afraid to get super-serious and tell guests exactly how he feels about them.

Both make for interesting TV, but would you prefer Jon Stewart just stick to the funny? Or is it more satisfying when he's serious?
