90210 and Melrose Place are about to go on their Winter hiatuses, so you know what that means — even more climactic drama in both episodes. The high school kids definitely made me raise my eyebrows a few times, but it's hard for them to compete with their older counterparts this week, who delivered the soap opera trifecta: sex, drugs, and murder.

I was really excited about this week's double-header of 90210 and Melrose Place. Perhaps it was absence making my heart grow fonder after last week's hiatus, or maybe just the anticipation of watching as Jen gets her due justice. (She does.

The Tuesday night CW block made a particularly strong showing this week. Personally, I thought 90210 had one of its best episodes of the season — nice character development, a few teary moments, and some "oh no she didn't" disses. And as for Melrose Place, I've got two words for you: Heather Locklear.

This week's 90210 and Melrose Place combo don't have a ton of shocking moments, but it's obvious both shows are gearing up for major stuff to go down. (Like a drug bust, murder arrest, and Heather Locklear, for instance?!) We do, however, get some nice moments between the characters. Teddy, for one, is acting like an angel — although I can't tell if it's sincere, because I've made it a rule not to trust a guy who ties sweaters over his shoulders.

This week's CW drama block may have its share of cool guest stars like N.E.R.D. and Samantha Ronson, but, on the whole, it's a total mess. On the one hand, you've got the unstable girls of 90210 having emotional breakdowns at the drop of a hat; on the other, the Melrose Place residents are busy sneaking around to cover up their crimes.
