Ron Howard Just Made the Best Point About Trump's Criticism of Meryl Streep

At the 2017 Golden Globes, Meryl Streep delivered a masterful speech that condemned Donald Trump's abhorrent rhetoric without even uttering his name. Naturally, it displeased the president-elect, who took to Twitter to share his thoughts, characterizing Streep as an "over-rated" actress with an inability to accept the election's results.

Soon after, director Ron Howard addressed Trump's comments and illustrated his hypocrisy. In several tweets, Howard pointed out how Trump had previously used his celebrity platform to speak on political matters and spread rumors regarding Barack Obama's citizenship but how he now expects other celebrities to keep quiet.

Howard is one of many celebrities to rally against the president-elect. In early January, several Hollywood stars appeared in a PSA that asked congressional members to keep Trump accountable throughout his impending presidency. In it, Janet Mock said, "We won't remain silent, we'll work harder to mobilize our vote and our communities, but we need you."
