In a roundtable discussion for her new partnership with Etsy as "chief gifting officer," the talk-show host speaks about situationships deserving a small little something this holiday — even if you have no intention of meeting each other's parents and your conversations don't go deeper than what kind of pizza to order.

"I don't think a gift ever hurts. If it's too much for that person, you just bought yourself a gift," Barrymore says. "It doesn't have to be big, but that gesture is also a nice invitation to say to someone, 'I do these things, and I'm welcoming this actionable thing in our dynamic.'"

Coming from someone who famously celebrates her exes and zens out in personalized meditation rooms, this advice shouldn't be too surprising: the woman embodies what emotional maturity is. "The one you don't really want to give, but you do because you know how good it is."
