Wreck-It Ralph

John C. Reilly voices Ralph, a bulky video game villain itching to shed his bad-guy image and become a hero. The film's stellar voice cast also includes Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer. Chock-full of nostalgic references (think Q*bert and Sonic the Hedgehog), Wreck-It Ralph is just as much fun for adults as it is for kids. The DVD comes with the Oscar-winning short film Paperman, deleted and extended scenes, and making-of featurettes.

Red Dawn

Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson take the reins in this remake of the 1984 action film. This time, the invading forces are North Koreans, and they take over Spokane, WA. Lucky for Spokane, its best and brightest young adults are ready to fight for freedom. Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki also star in the unnecessary remake that suffers from a laughable script and distinct lack of charm that the original had. The DVD include four making-of featurettes.

The Top 5 Games of All Time, According to Wreck-It Ralph's Rich Moore

Director Rich Moore didn't have to do much research before starting production on Disney's Wreck-It Ralph, the ultimate movie for indulging childhood video game nostalgia.

Director Rich Moore didn't have to do much research before starting production on Disney's Wreck-It Ralph, the ultimate movie for indulging childhood video game nostalgia. The gamer-turned-animator-turned-director, best known for his work on The Simpsons and Futurama, was developing a story inspired by video games long before Wreck-It Ralph became a reality.

"When I was in college, I was already doing research for Ralph. I could see how a video game could be adapted into a movie — how you could take this story and this world and expand on it and create a film out of it," Rich told us in a recent interview.

Spearheading Wreck-It Ralph, which includes countless cameos from iconic video games, was a dream come true for Rich, who was able to incorporate characters he loved as a kid into the movie. "When I got word that Nintendo gave the OK for Bowser, the movie changed for me," Rich revealed. "It was like hearing that Robert De Niro was going to be in the film. A lot of the animators were like, 'OMG!'"

So, what were the games that inspired the director of the Oscar-nominated, Critics' Choice Award-winning animated film? We asked, and Rich answered. Click on to find out the director's top five games of all time and watch two deleted scenes from the Wreck-It Ralph 3D Blu-Ray Collector's edition, available on March 5.

John C. Reilly on His Hidden Talents and Working in His Underwear

John C. Reilly voices the titular character in Disney's animated feature film Wreck-It Ralph, out today.

John C. Reilly voices the titular character in Disney's animated feature film Wreck-It Ralph, out today. The movie follows Ralph — an '80s arcade game villain who's tired of being the bad guy — as he searches for recognition by "game hopping" to other more modern video game worlds. John is the perfect voice actor for the loveable yet destructive character, who despite his bouts of anger is just trying to feel like he belongs. But when we sat down with John to talk about the movie he told us he actually has some things in common with the hero of the Wreck-It Ralph video game, Fix-It Felix (voiced by 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer). In fact, he claims this hidden talent is why his wife married him! John also opened up about why being able to show up at work in his underwear is a perk of doing an animated movie, the video games he played growing up in the '80s, and his favorite bands of the '90s. 3 Reasons You Don't Have to Be a Kid to Enjoy Wreck-It Ralph

In Wreck-It Ralph, John C.

In Wreck-It Ralph, John C. Reilly voices a video-game villain who's tired of being a bad guy. He sets out on a quest to lose the label, and in doing so, he encounters lots of other characters who are also more than what their two-dimensional selves seem. It's candy-colored and cute, but even if you're not a child yourself, there are plenty of reasons to head out to theaters to see it. Check out my reasons below to find out why Wreck-It Ralph is more than just kids' stuff.

  1. It's worth seeing for the video-game references alone. While Wreck-It Ralph does have some made-up games in it, like Sugar Rush, there are plenty of references to old-school video games you'll recognize. There's Q*bert, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bowser, just to name a few. Be prepared to feel a flood of nostalgia as you remember playing those games as a kid — and feeling like a kid while watching Wreck-It Ralph is a big reason why it's so fun.
  2. There's enough grown-up humor. Kids will get a kick out of silly jokes like the double entendre of "Hero's Duty" lobbed by Vanellope (Sarah Silverman), but there's plenty of humor for big kids, too. Not only do the jokes make you laugh, but also, the idea of the video-game world as its own society makes you smirk, especially when you see what the characters do in their off-hours, like drink at bars and attend self-help meetings. Plus, the voices of supporting characters like Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer recall their usual, funny, prime-time characters.
  3. There are deeper themes than your average kids' movie. The fact that protagonist Ralph is a bad guy alerts you early on that this isn't going to be your traditional Disney movie, and while we ride along on Ralph's journey to prove himself, the themes that emerge are pretty mature. There's the frustration in having a reputation you don't like, and the necessity of self-acceptance (as well as a lesson in bullying), but don't worry — it doesn't get overly preachy.

Sarah Silverman on Embracing Imperfections and Her Love of Piano Rock

Sarah Silverman switches gears from her signature sarcastic — and at times controversial — humor to voice the adorable outcast Vanellope von Schweetz in Disney's Wreck-It Ralph, out Friday.

Sarah Silverman switches gears from her signature sarcastic — and at times controversial — humor to voice the adorable outcast Vanellope von Schweetz in Disney's Wreck-It Ralph, out Friday. The animated feature film is about the behind-the-scenes world of arcade games, with most of the film's action taking place in Vanellope's saccharine Mario Kart-meets-Candy Land home: Sugar Rush. I got the chance to chat with Sarah about how she relates to Vanellope and her "glitch," an imperfection that makes her an undesirable racer while also making her unique. Sarah also gave us the scoop on her political involvement this election season, including her work with the Draw the Line campaign supporting women's reproductive rights. Watch the interview now to find out what she said about that, her love of piano rock, and more!
