Demi Moore Chats Movies With Hollywood Legends

Demi Moore joined several Oscar-winning Hollywood stars at AFI's Night at the Movies event in NYC last night.

Demi Moore joined several Oscar-winning Hollywood stars at AFI's Night at the Movies event in NYC last night. She wore a sheer jumpsuit as she mingled with stars like Harrison Ford, Sally Field, and Cher, who were all at the event to introduce one of their classic movies during the film-lovers bash. Demi presented Ghost, her 1990 film with Patrick Swayze, while Cher introduced Moonstruck and Sally chatted about Norma Rae. This was a rare red carpet appearance for Demi, whose last public event was to check out Ferragamo's Spring runway collection alongside Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe back in January. She didn't make it to the Sundance Film Festival this year, but her new film with Elizabeth Olsen and Dakota Fanning, Very Good Girls, did premiere to decent reviews at the annual event.

Hollywood's Most Famous Ladies Gather to Honor Shirley MacLaine

The stars were out in LA last night for the AFI Life Achievement Award gala honoring Shirley MacLaine.

The stars were out in LA last night for the AFI Life Achievement Award gala honoring Shirley MacLaine. Jennifer Aniston wore a hot Burberry dress to honor Shirley, and made the rounds saying hello to a Valentino-clad Meryl Streep, Gucci-wearing Dakota Fanning, and Katherine Heigl, in Monique Lhuillier. Julia Roberts and Melanie Griffith also made the rounds. Plenty of veteran Hollywood actors paid tribute to Shirley — Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson, Sally Field, and Shirley's own brother, Warren Beatty, were on hand. Julia and Katherine both took the stage to lavish praise on Shirley. Julia Roberts said of Shirley, her Steel Magnolias costar, "She has it all, she can do it all . . . How can I put this? She's got balls."

Katherine had more kind words for Shirley. She said, "You taught me this exceptional lesson: to hold my freakin' own." On the red carpet though, Katherine talked about her family, husband Josh Kelley, 3-year-old Naleigh, and newly adopted infant Adalaide. She said, "I definitely want more kids! I think we decided on three, but I'm pushing for four."

Love and Sex

Shirley MacLaine Defines "Sexcapades"

"I wasn't into sexcapades, although I tried it once.

"I wasn't into sexcapades, although I tried it once. I had three people in one day."

Move over Betty White (who recently had some nude photos hit the web). There's a new racy woman of a certain age making headlines. Shirley MacLaine told Oprah yesterday that while she had love, not sex, affairs, she did give very casual sex a chance once when she slept with three men in one day, an event she discusses in her new book I'm Over All That and Other Confessions. Her explanation: "It was on a political campaign where everybody was doing the same thing. I just didn't want to be left out."

Red Carpet

Valentine's Day Arrives Early With Star-Studded LA Premiere

The ensemble cast of Valentine's Day hit the red carpet in LA last night for the premiere.

The ensemble cast of Valentine's Day hit the red carpet in LA last night for the premiere. Jessica Biel wins the award for getting in the spirit of the holiday in her festively colored Oscar de la Renta gown while Jennifer Garner and Anne Hathaway both went short, sexy and dark. Jessica Alba returned from her weekend trip to the Super Bowl in time to slip into her unique dress, though this hair length isn't your favorite on the actress. Julia Roberts and her niece Emma both looked stunning — though they don't actually share any screen time in the movie. The film hits theaters this Friday, just in time for a V Day girls' night or date, and apparently a New Year's Eve based sequel is already in the works.

Taylor Lautner also spent his weekend in Miami for the big game, even playing a bit himself amid rumors that his newest role might be a stretch. He didn't have to worry about any awkward run-ins with his real life ex and onscreen girlfriend, Taylor Swift, since she's in Australia on tour at the moment. Bradley Cooper was sporting a not great fake tan, though he smiled through the night with Grey's Anatomy boys Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane, who was accompanied by his very pregnant wife Rebecca Gayheart. Newly 32-year-old Ashton Kutcher and his Valentine Demi Moore rounded out the crew, and he kept things cute by pointing himself out on the poster to his wife.

Olivia Wilde struck a pose this afternoon at the Power of Women luncheon in LA, while elsewhere the news broke that her costar Jennifer Morrison will be leaving their series House. Olivia was joined by a fresh-off-the-Emmys-red-carpet January Jones, along with Anne Hathaway and AnnaLynne McCord. Christina Aguilera was also in attendance, as her husband Jordan Bratman dared to be one of the few guys in the room. The event was designed to honor eight ladies — Christina Aguilera, Christina Applegate, Maria Bello, Anne Hathaway, January Jones, Sigourney Weaver, film executive Sherry Lansing, and producer Laura Ziskin — who all maintain their commitment to charitable causes despite their hectic Hollywood careers.

First Look: Coco Chanel on Lifetime

With the fashion world abuzz at New York Fashion Week right now, it seems an apt time for Lifetime to premiere its look at the life of one of fashion's true icons: Coco Chanel.

With the fashion world abuzz at New York Fashion Week right now, it seems an apt time for Lifetime to premiere its look at the life of one of fashion's true icons: Coco Chanel. Coco Chanel stars Shirley MacLaine as the legendary designer (and Barbora Bobulova as the young Coco) who began life in a French orphanage and worked her way up through the fashion world, ultimately bringing us classic suits, the little black dress, and a perfume that's endured for decades.

Lifetime calls Chanel "a glamorous woman who was hard to love and harder to ignore," and that comes through in this trailer. Yes, there's the obligatory breathless "fashion! is! my! life!" declaration, but there are also some great scenes of MacLaine's Coco berating a woman for wearing a subpar outfit and literally ripping the skirt off her body. Oh, if only she could bring her sharp tongue to the Project Runway stage!

The movie premieres this Saturday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. To watch the trailer, read more

Mischa Barton

Mischa Opens Up Closing the Ring

Mischa Barton looked, sigh, pretty ridiculous at the red carpet premiere of her new movie Closing the Ring in Belfast last night.

Mischa Barton looked, sigh, pretty ridiculous at the red carpet premiere of her new movie Closing the Ring in Belfast last night. Bella wants to know, what do you think about her blonder again locks? The film has a UK release date of Dec. 28, but nothing stateside as of yet. Ergh, let's hope the rest of her upcoming movies fare better than this one. At least she seems happy with her career options these days. I'll always root for my little OCers, but I do wish Mischa would lose the cowgirl shirt. It may be better than her high-heeled Keds, but at least she was paid to wear those.

Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

Most of all, I loved the suggestions put forth this week for recasting the role of Angela Bower's mom, Mona Robinson. I would love to see all these fantastic actresses play this role! Check out some of my favorite Mona ideas:

Goldie Hawn (WhiplashGirlchild)
Kate Flannery (mamaseacat)
Sissy Spacek (Amanda-La)
Swoosie Kurtz (sfmastiffmom)
Jane Fonda (leeluvfashion)
Marlo Thomas (psterling)

Fierce ladies, all! I also like the idea of Felicity Huffman playing Angela, as suggested by jlynn122, and I think Ellen Page would make a very cool Samantha, which kersalli cleverly thought up. Overall, though, my favorite recast list this week comes from audreystar! To see who audreystar picked along with a new cast photo, read more
