What if Daniel Radcliffe hadn't been chosen to play Harry Potter? I can't imagine this month's release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with any stars other than the ones I've come to know. That said, there were other famous faces who came close to nabbing roles in the series. Check out these 10 actors who almost starred in the series!
In honor of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I on DVD, the film's cast headed to NY for a recent press day. We chatted with Mark Williams and Helen McCrory (better known as Arthur Weasley and Narcissa Malfoy), who put aside their onscreen rivalry to discuss their favorite Harry Potter keepsakes and playing parents to young wizards.
In the first half of the final chapter in the Harry Potter franchise, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are on the run from Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters. As the dark lord begins to wreak havoc on the magical world and the non-wizarding world, Harry and his friends must recover seven items called horcruxes in order to destroy Voldemort before it's too late. Though the film is a precursor to the grand finale, it received critical acclaim and proved to pack emotional punch and stunning visual effects. DVD extras include deleted scenes, featurettes, and a sneak peek at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
Gwyneth Paltrow takes her singing voice to the big screen once again as a country singer who tries to make a comeback after a stint in rehab. Unfortunately, she's got some competition in an up-and-coming starlet (Leighton Meester), but she gets some moral support from a handsome fellow singer (Garrett Hedlund). Tim McGraw rounds out the cast as Paltrow's husband but the talented cast can't overcome a cliched script. DVD extras include deleted scenes, music videos, and featurettes.
With the changing of the calendar to April, the sun is finally starting to come out, and it's making its appearance with some highly anticipated movies, TV, and music. As exciting films make their way into the theater, some TV shows are airing eventful episodes. Check out which of the month's entertainment offerings you can't miss!
It's tough containing my excitement for the final Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows Part II (did you see the new poster yet?), but I'm still a big fan of Part I. If you are too, you've got to watch the following deleted scene that was just unearthed — it's a somber and fairly emotional clip between Harry and Aunt Petunia, just before she and the Dursleys are forced to vacate their lifelong home. Watch!
As host Anne Hathaway said, this year's Academy Awards kind of were the "young and hip" Oscars. They made the effort, anyway, from the choice of hosts to skits like the auto-tuned movie montage. Making a joke about how musicals were big this year, Franco introduced the parody, which features 2010 movies like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I, The Social Network, and Eclipse. Watch as Justin Timberlake's "billion dollars" speech and Taylor Lautner's abs become fodder for hilarious lyrics!
