Adam Levine Tried Singing to His 3-Year-Old Daughter Once, but She Wasn't a Fan

One look at Maroon 5's list of accolades would seemingly be enough to clue you in on how much people love the sound of frontman Adam Levine's voice, but surprisingly there's one person out there who he has yet to impress: his daughter. The singer and former Voice coach stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday where he talked about fatherhood and told a hilarious story about the time his 3-year-old, Dusty Rose, politely shut him down when he tried to sing to her.

"You'd think that she'd like it when I sang to her. She just doesn't like it that much," the 40-year-old told Ellen, recalling a time when he tried playing his guitar for Dusty. "She was playing with stuff and looking up at me every once in a while. I'm like, 'Oh, my God, it's working. She's loving this.' I was like auditioning for my daughter, which is ridiculous," he said. "And we're having fun, and finally she just looked at me — she touched the guitar — and was just like, 'Put that down.'"

He continued, "This is like, wow. It's like the most humbling thing that's ever happened." Adam later joked that he's trying to work up the courage to sing for Dusty again someday, but in the meantime, he's thankful that his 1-year-old daughter, Gio Grace, isn't as harsh of a critic. "Gio loves music, but Dusty's like the manager." Watch the full clip above.
