Not only does the beloved children's show host have his own USPS stamp, but he's also the subject of an acclaimed documentary, Won't You Be My Neighbor?, and a biopic where Tom Hanks will portray him Yes, the ultimate nice guy of Hollywood will be portraying everyone's favorite neighbor. We're already in our feelings from the supreme level casting.

The Plot

The film will focus on the the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and award-winning journalist Tom Junod. Junod and Rogers got to know one another when the journalist wrote a profile on the star for Esquire magazine in 1998.

Back in January, director Marielle Heller opened up about bringing Fred Rogers's life to the big screen, and shared why she believes the film is much needed in the current social climate, telling Variety: "This is the perfect alchemy of talent coming together at the perfect time to remind us all of the transformative power of kindness and respect to heal and to unite."

Tom Hanks will take on the role of Fred Rogers with The Americans' Matthew Rhys playing journalist Tom Junod. Chris Cooper and Susan Kelechi Watson from This Is Us will also star in the film.
