It seems hard to believe, but it's been a full 19 years since Beverly Hills, 90210 ended. That probably seems a little shocking to '90s babies who remember the era of baggy overalls and tinted sunglasses vividly, but it's true!

It hasn't really been that long, though. In fact, a lot of the trends that bubbled up in the '90s are still relevant today, from the looks appearing on runways to the shows airing on TV. A prime example of the '90s resurgence? BH90210, a new six-episode limited series on FOX featuring the original cast of Beverly Hills, 90210. In this fictional show, we see the whole gang — Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, and Ian Ziering — gearing up to play their Beverly Hills, 90210 characters once again for a reunion of the hit show. Tune into the premiere on FOX on August 7 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT — and catch up on all the reasons why the '90s are still relevant in the meantime.

Some '90s Fashions Never Went Out of Style . . .

Though some trends (here's looking at you, neon geometric prints) were too bold to stick around, a few managed to keep a foothold in the fashion world. Donna Martin-esque sweet daisy prints, Brenda Walsh-preferred high-waisted jeans, and Dylan McKay and Brandon Walsh-approved leather jackets have all held onto their popularity ever since their '90s heyday.

. . . While Others Just Became Trendy Again

There's also a crop of trends that didn't make it past the year 2000, but have recently begun to resurface. Teeny-tiny crop tops and spandex bike shorts surprisingly work just as well in 2019 as they did when Kelly Taylor wore them to school, as long as they're styled with a modern touch. Fanny packs have also been rebranded as belt bags and worn slung over one shoulder, while scrunchies have gotten an update thanks to luxe materials like leather and velvet.

High School Is Just as Dramatic

While the West Beverly Hills High class of 1993 didn't have to contend with social media or online assignments, their high school experience really wasn't all that different from the high school experience today. No matter what high school you go to, there will always be drama over two people wearing the same dress to the dance, who got invited to which party, or dating someone your parents don't approve of.

Hunky Teen Heartthrobs Are Still Idolized

When Beverly Hills, 90210 was on the air, teenagers everywhere drooled over Jason Priestley and Luke Perry. Today's teens have a new crop of heartthrobs to obsess over, but the sentiment is very much the same and you can still buy merch featuring their names and gorgeous faces.

The Local Burger Joint Is Still the Go-To Hangout

The Peach Pit was the place to go for the West Beverly Hills High gang. It's where they laughed over milkshakes, asked their crushes out on dates, and even worked after school to pick up some extra cash. Thankfully, diners are just as popular today as they were two decades ago, so today's teens have somewhere similarly welcoming to hang out.

Young Women Are More Empowered Than Ever to Chase Their Dreams

From Andrea calling out her newspaper advisor for sexism to Brenda leaving her boyfriend behind to enroll in a Summer immersion program in France, the women of Beverly Hills, 90210 were never afraid to go after what they wanted. Their independence and boldness inspired viewers back in the day, and today, young women everywhere are taking up the mantle.
