J.J. Abrams Reveals That Anton Yelchin's Role Won't Be Recast in the Fourth Star Trek Film

Days ahead of the release of Star Trek Beyond, Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a fourth Star Trek film is in the works. While the studio is keeping pretty mum about the details surrounding the film, there are a few things we already know including that the story's main focus will be on Chris Pine's character, Captain Kirk, finally crossing paths with his late father. J.J. Abrams Is Working on the Project

The mastermind behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to produce the upcoming movie alongside Lindsey Weber. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will also write the screenplay.

Anton Yelchin's Character Will Not Be Recast

In light of the actor's recent death, J.J. Abrams revealed to the Toronto Sun that his character, Pavel Chekov, will not be recast. "I would say there's no replacing him," he said. "There's no recasting. I can't possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better."

Chris Hemsworth Is Returning

The actor will reprise his role as Captain Kirk's (Chris Pine) father, George Kirk. The rest of the cast is also expected to return for the film.
