Everything You Need to Know About Fox's Rocky Horror Picture Show Reboot

Fox's highly anticipated reboot of the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show is still a few months away, but that hasn't stopped us from shivering with antici . . . . . . pation for its arrival. Between the stellar, talented cast and the trailers that hint that the modern version is just as campy and fun as the original, we're in for a treat. Check out everything we know about the TV movie so far below, and then see why Fox's remake of Grease was such a hit.

01

The Cast

The original Rocky Horror Picture Show boasted an incredible cast with the likes of Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry, and even Meat Loaf, so the reboot had some stiff competition on its hands. Luckily the TV version scored some absolute standouts, including Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Victoria Justice as Janet Weiss, Christina Milian as Magenta, Adam Lambert as Eddie, and Ryan McCartan as Brad Majors. Curry is also going to make a special appearance as The Criminologist, who serves as the story's narrator.

02

How It Differs From the Original

A select group of San Diego Comic-Con attendees got a special surprise on Thursday when they were treated to a screening of the first 25 minutes of the TV movie, which revealed a number of differences from the original, along with the performances of "Time Warp" and "Sweet Transvestite." According to Entertainment Weekly, the adaptation has a bit of a meta opening. It kicks off at a movie theater, which has an audience watching and interacting with a showing of the movie just like the IRL midnight screenings that happen each year, like yelling at the screen, and putting newspapers over their heads when Janet sings "There's a Light (Over at the Frankenstein Place)." A female usher performs "Science Fiction/Double Feature," and a rollicking version of "Time Warp" is led by Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia. The cherry on top of it all? Cox makes her big entrance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter by descending onto the stage on a massive crane while belting out "Sweet Transvestite."
