Aaron Taylor-Johnson's "Kraven the Hunter" Is Delayed to 2024 Amid Strikes

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is ready for his action hero moment. On June 19, Sony released the first trailer for "Kraven the Hunter," another entry in their line of movies centering on Spider-Man villains. Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular hunter in the bloody and action-packed trailer. In the film, he plays Sergei Kravinoff, an erratic big game hunter intent on saving the environment (and hunting down his dad, played by Russell Crowe). Ariana DeBose also stars in the film as Calypso, a voodoo priestess and Kraven's love interest.

After the trailer's release, many fans couldn't help but comment on how good Taylor-Johnson looks in the trailer (and it seems, for most of the film, he shirks shirts in favor of a small vest). Even his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, got in on the fun, sharing the poster on Instagram and writing, "Kraving my Hunter." On his own account, Taylor-Johnson wrote, "Two years of my life went into creating and bringing this iconic villain to the big screen. Can't wait for you to finally see it in theatres."

"Kraven the Hunter" was meant to be the fourth Sony Spider-Man villain film after "Venom," "Venom 2," and "Morbius." The fifth was also come in February 2024 — "Madame Web," starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney (who'll play a version of Spider-Woman). However, on July 28, Sony announced that because of the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes, "Kraven the Hunter" has now been delayed from an October release to the summer of 2024.

Kraven's appearances in the comic books are often quite humorous (his classic costume includes leopard-print pants and a zebra belt), so it will be interesting to see how the "Kraven the Hunter" film balances thrilling drama and violence with the character's comedy. Ahead, here's what we know about "Kraven the Hunter."
