Jada Pinkett Smith Says "Red Table Talk" Is Looking For a "New Home" After Cancellation

Jada Pinkett Smith is hopeful that her long-running Facebook Watch show, "Red Table Talk," isn't coming to an end. Pinkett Smith; her daughter, Willow Smith; and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, have hosted the show since 2018, and the series has platformed some internet-breaking conversations with celebrities since then. But on April 26, news broke that Meta (Facebook's parent company) was canceling all of its Facebook Watch originals, including "Red Table Talk." Deadline first reported the news.

Pinkett Smith addressed the news in an Instagram statement on April 27. She wrote, "We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch and we are sorry to see the entire team disbanded. We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come."

But she was also clear that this isn't the end of "Red Table Talk." She wrote, "We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home and we'll see you soon." It's not clear where the new home will be. It could land at a new streamer, or it could shift to a different format. "Red Table Talk" also had a spinoff, "Red Table Talk: The Estefans," that ended in 2021, and it's possible the original "Red Table Talk" will shift to a podcast format as well.

"Red Table Talk" became something of a phenomenon, even inspiring jokes about "bringing" someone to the Red Table. One of "Red Table Talk"'s biggest moments was their interview with Jordyn Woods in March 2019 after the Kardashian-Jenner family accused her of being intimate with Tristan Thompson while he was with Khloé Kardashian. The Smith family have also used the show to have intense and intimate conversations about their own family life, including when Pinkett Smith addressed the 2022 Oscars slap. But in addition to those huge cultural moments, Pinkett Smith, Smith, and Banfield-Norris carved out a unique space for celebrities to have long-form conversations about important issues in their lives. Recent guests included Hayden Panettiere, Jennette McCurdy, and Queen Latifah.

For now, we'll have to wait to see "Red Table Talk"'s ultimate fate.
