The Big Bang Theory Is Officially Over — Here's Where Everyone Ends Up in the Finale!

After 12 seasons, an ungodly amount of takeout, graphic tees, and scientific references that zoomed straight over our heads, The Big Bang Theory is finally at an end. The long-running sitcom wrapped up on Thursday night with its emotional series finale, which provided a fitting end for all of its major characters. Curious about who ends up where? Their fates are ahead, so consider this your obligatory spoiler warning!

Amy and Sheldon
CBS

Amy and Sheldon

The hour-long series finale begins with Sheldon and Amy waiting to find out if they won the Nobel Prize (Leonard also gets permission to slap Sheldon awake if he falls asleep before the phone rings). As expected, they win!

The achievement comes with some side effects, both good and bad. On one hand, Amy uses the money that comes with the prize to give herself a swanky makeover. But on the other, Sheldon starts freaking out about all the attention reporters are giving them now that they're Nobel Prize winners. Fortunately, Penny sets him straight with a pep talk, which gives him the confidence he needs to head to Sweden for the award ceremony. And, luckily, he brings all of his friends along with him.

During the plane ride over (which happens two months in the future), Sheldon's self-centered behavior irritates the hell out of everyone. They're even on the brink of ditching him and Amy to head home, but ultimately they decide to stay to see him win his medal and give his speech (even if it is all about him and over an hour long).

Luckily, Sheldon has another heart-to-heart, but this time it's with Amy. She bluntly tells him that his behavior is ruining everything unintentionally. It's only because he doesn't mean to come off as such a jerk that people keep him around.

Sheldon really listens to what she has to say, and in the end, he chooses to devote his speech to his friends — he has each of them stand up in the audience to regale the auditorium with all the reasons he loves them. Cue the tears.

Penny and Leonard

Penny and Leonard

It seems the pep talk Penny gives Sheldon (while tipsy, we might add) also gives her the confidence to go home and "attack" her husband — in a sexy way, of course. When the show flashes forward two months to the gang's trip to Sweden, Penny announces she's pregnant since Sheldon starts spiraling about all the reasons she's constantly going to the bathroom on the plane. While we wish we could see Penny and Leonard as parents, this is a pretty sweet way to wrap up their stories, no?

Howard and Bernadette

The two lovebirds are just as strong as ever, though they have a tough go of it on the trip to Sweden since they can't stand being away from their kids. Unsurprisingly, Sheldon can't care less about their plight.

Raj
CBS

Raj

What happens to Raj in the finale? Well, we're glad you asked, because he meets Buffy freakin' Summers (or, you know, Sarah Michelle Gellar). The two bump into each other on the plane and strike up a friendship, with the actress even agreeing to attend the Nobel Prize ceremony with Raj. Later, back in the US as the gang enjoys some Chinese takeout together in the apartment, they "joke" that Raj is keeping her hostage somewhere. Fingers crossed she's back home safe with Freddie Prinze Jr.

Oh Yeah . . . the Elevator!

It works now, guys! It seems the apartment building fixed it just in time.
