A Sequel to Harry and Meghan's Lifetime Movie Will Be Out Just in Time For Their Anniversary

If there's anything we all need in the insanity that is today's world, it's a sequel to Lifetime's Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance.
The lengthy feature film premiered May 13, 2018 (six days before the couple tied the knot at Windsor Castle), and gave us a fictional version of the royal couple's real-life love story, focusing on how they met and fell in love. We absolutely didn't need it, but fans gleefully enjoyed the film nonetheless. It definitely helps that the film's Harry and Meghan (Murray Fraser and Parisa Fitz-Henley, respectively) look eerily similar to the royals they were portraying, even if we can't say the same for some of the other cast members . . .
The network announced the film's sequel with the working title Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal during the Television Critics Association tour on Sunday, Feb. 10. According to a press release, the sequel will tell the story of Meghan and Prince Harry during their first year of marriage, "pulling back the curtain to reveal the untold joys and challenges of life inside the royal family." There's no official premiere date, but production is set to begin later this month in Vancouver, with the film set to debut Spring 2019. It is important to note that the couple's wedding anniversary is May 19 (and their first child will arrive sometime this Spring), so we could definitely see Lifetime marking the occasion with a movie release.
Most importantly — and unfortunately — A+E President of Programming Rob Sharenow revealed that Fitz-Henley and Murray aren't available to work on the sequel, so the network will be recasting the roles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their replacements haven't been announced yet, so look-alikes better get their headshots ready!
There's no word on whether there will be recasts for the other members of the cast, but we're excited to see how the network will tackle how drastically the couple's life changed, and all the controversies they've faced, since their amazing wedding day.
