Surprise! Denzel Washington Just Won the SAG Award Over Casey Affleck and Ryan Gosling
Denzel Washington is a terrific actor, but we have to admit we didn't see his SAG Awards win for male actor in a leading role coming. Washington took home the trophy on Sunday night, beating out La La Land's Ryan Gosling and Manchester by the Sea's Casey Affleck. He may be a revelation in Fences, but Gosling and Affleck have been the odds-on favorites for this year's lead actor Oscar — this development just put a wrench in things. Even Washington, who had never won a SAG Award, seems a little surprised (but very happy) to be up on stage!
