Crystal Learns a Terrible Secret on This Week's "Yellowjackets" — With Huge Consequences

Oh Crystal: We hardly knew you. "Yellowjackets" season two added a new character to the squad of teenage girls lost in the woods: Nuha Jes Izman as Crystal. Technically, within the show's canon, Crystal has been there the whole time, but the character and actor weren't actually in season one. The new episodes have given Crystal and all her quirks space to shine, but in episode five, she comes to her untimely demise.

Here's everything to know about Crystal and her fate on "Yellowjackets."

Crystal is a member of the "Yellowjackets" who usually plays on the JV soccer team, but was enlisted to travel with them to nationals. In the season premiere, she bonds with Misty (Samantha Hanratty), who's been ostracized by the group thanks to that whole "accidentally drugging them with magic mushrooms" thing in season one. Like Misty, Crystal loves music and musical theater; the others often yell at her for singing and humming. Nevertheless, the first pair bond over their appreciation of the genre, and Misty is happy to have an ally, while Crystal seems content to officially have an "in" with one of her fellow castaways.

Crystal and Misty — in the flush of a new, intense friendship — are walking in the snowy woods together doing chores and sharing secrets. Crystal shares her biggest one — her name isn't Crystal. It's Kristen. She never corrected the girls when they called her the wrong name at practice because they started calling her "Crystal the Pistol" and she'd never had a nickname before. Misty identifies with Crystal as an outsider and tells her she never thought people liked her until the plane crash, when her survival skills became useful.

"Do you get how lucky we are?" Crystal asks. "Some people never find someone they trust enough to share their deepest secrets." Misty really takes that to heart and tells Crystal her biggest secret of all: After the plane crash, Misty destroyed the plane's emergency transmitter. Crystal's face immediately falls. Mistry pretends it was a joke, but Crystal tells hers, "You're not that good of an actress," which is both chilling and brutal. She calls Mistry a "psycho" and runs away, but Misty begs her not to tell anyone.

Misty tells Crystal that if she spills the secret, "I'll f*cking kill you" as she walks toward Crystal, who falls backwards down the cliff they were standing on and dies.

Even though Misty was threatening Crystal's life, she seems shocked and upset about what happened. Both girls knew the cliff was there, but it doesn't seem like Misty really intended to Crystal to fall down it. Still, she definitely deserves at least some of the blame for her former friend's demise.

Misty tells the other "Yellowjackets" that Crystal got lost in the snow, and then they focus their efforts on finding Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Shauna (Sophie Nelisse) in the blizzard. When — and if — they do find Crystal's body eventually, she'll be frozen solid — the way Jackie was before they ate her — and if they're desperate and hungry enough, it definitely seems like Crystal could be their next meal.

Nuha Jes Izman plays Crystal. The 20-year-old is a Malaysian actor who, according to Deadline, relocated to New York City to study acting at the Stella Adler Studio. According to the school's website, she graduated in 2022. In Malaysia, she started the Tree Theatre Group with her father and brother, an NGO that raised awareness about the environment through theater. They performed throughout the world, including in Sweden, China, Kenya, and the United States. Izman previously appeared on CBS's "FBI."
