Every Chilling Detail We Know About Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, So Far

Are you ready to have your face hugged by a few aliens? Because Ridley Scott certainly is. The director has returned to the Alien franchise with Alien: Covenant, a sequel to 2012's Prometheus but still a prequel to the first Alien film. From the looks of things, the new installment is going to be just as much of a bloody, terrifying thrill ride as its predecessors. With more and more details coming out about it by the day, we've gone ahead and rounded them up in one convenient place for you to obsess over.

Michael Fassbender makes his return to the Alien franchise by playing two characters: unfeeling android David (who survived the failed Prometheus mission) and an identical robot named Walter. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them alum Katherine Waterston is sporting a very Ripley-esque haircut as badass leading lady Daniels, an important member of the crew. James Franco is on board as Captain Branson of the Covenant ship (although we have a sneaking suspicion he's going to die early on), along with Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, and a few others.

As you can see in the prologue above, the group is letting off some steam before entering into cryo-sleep on their history-making large-scale colonization mission (Branson has come down with a fever and leaves the rest of the crew to make merry, hence our assumption he's not long for their world). Although the crew members assume their colony ship is headed to a planet of uncharted paradise, they soon discover that it's actually a nightmarish hellscape full of creatures who are more than happy to hunt them down one by one.

Since it's been revealed that Fassbender is reprising his role of David, whom we last saw as a disembodied head under the arm of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) in Prometheus, it's safe to assume the planet Covenant lands on is the same one they did, only years later. Even though Scott hinted that Rapace would not appear in the sequel, she's listed on the film's IMDb page and was spotted filming on set in Australia. Will she be the Covenant crew's only chance of escaping the Xenomorphs?
