Viola Davis's Daughter, Genesis Tennon, Supports Her Mom at an Award Dinner

Viola Davis's family celebrated the actor's many achievements on Dec. 11. Her husband, Julius Tennon, and daughter, Genesis Tennon, joined Davis at the Public Counsel's annual William O. Douglas Award Dinner honoring "The Woman King star. Former costar and friend Octavia Spencer presented Davis with the titular award in honor of her commitment to social causes.

For the red carpet event, "The First Lady" actor looked sleek in a black St. John gown with gold chain straps. Genesis posed alongside her in a purple, crushed velvet dress, while Julius wore a dapper, burgundy suit with a printed tie. While it's not often Genesis is in the spotlight, the 12-year-old has accompanied her mother to several events as of late. In September 2022, she attended "The Woman King" world premiere party with her parents, and a pre-Emmys party with Davis in September 2021.

After getting married in 2003, the couple adopted Genesis as an infant in 2011. Though only 12 years old, the budding star has already made her big-screen debut — she was a voice actor for "The Angry Birds Movie 2" in 2019. Davis is also a stepmom to Julius's two children from a previous relationship.
