Alan Thicke's Wife Speaks Out For the First Time About Her "Beloved" Husband's Death

Alan Thicke passed away on Dec. 13 after suffering from a heart attack while playing hockey with his son, Carter, and now his wife, Tanya Callau, is speaking out for the first time about her husband's tragic death. On Tuesday, Tanya released a statement to People, saying, "It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time. Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke."

Tanya — who married Alan in Mexico back in May 2005 — also revealed that she said her final goodbye at his memorial service on Monday, adding, "Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning." Tanya and the rest of her family have asked that donations be made in Alan's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, "a cause that he cared about deeply."
