Michael Cera has acted in some of Hollywood's biggest comedies, with "Juno," "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," and "Superbad" among his popular movies. Outside of his roles in film, Cera has also starred in a number of notable TV shows, including "Arrested Development" and most recently, the Hulu comedy drama series, "Life & Beth," alongside Amy Schumer. Despite the star's extensive acting résumé and connection to several A-list celebrities, Cera prefers to keep his life out of the spotlight, especially when it comes to those he has dated.

In terms of relationships, the "Barbie" actor has only been linked to two people in the public eye: his "Scott Pilgrim" costar Aubrey Plaza and his wife, Nadine, whom he married sometime before or around March 2018, per People. In the fall of 2021, they privately welcomed a son, but news of his son's birth was made public when Schumer revealed it accidentally in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "Michael has a baby, too. Is that public knowledge? I just outed him, I just outed his baby," she said.

It isn't easy to maintain privacy as an actor in Hollywood, but Cera seems to do a pretty good job of keeping his personal life, including his wife and son, close to him. Read on to learn everything we know about the actor's romantic past.

It is unknown when Plaza and Cera started dating, but we do know that they supposedly fell for one another shortly after filming "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" in 2010, as reported by E! News. The two dated privately for a year and a half, which Plaza revealed in a 2016 episode of the RuPaul and Michelle Visage podcast, "What's the Tee?" During the interview, Plaza explained, "He wasn't someone I ever saw and thought, 'Oh, give me some of that Michael Cera.' I wasn't like that. We just connected and after, it just happened."

Despite their breakup after nearly two years of dating, the pair still remain friends. "He's very special — I mean, we love each other," Plaza said. "We're still really good friends. He's just a weird little freak and we speak the same language. He's one of the funniest people I know."

Cera met his wife, Nadine, during a press tour for "Arrested Development" in Paris, according to Elle. He opened up about seeing her for the first time in a 2022 episode of Justin Long's "Life is Short" podcast. "We went down the street one night to this little bar in Paris and she was there with all her flatmates and we were smiling at each other in this very unabashed way," he said. "There was no shyness, we just kept seeing each other and smiling. It was so comfortable. It was a really unfamiliar way to experience a stranger and I felt like I saw the whole thing." Cera later explained that he extended his trip in France to get to know Nadine more.

The "Barbie" actor and Nadine have stayed out of the public eye for the majority of their relationship. In March 2018, a source told Us Weekly that the two were married after the pair were spotted with matching wedding bands. In the fall of 2021, they privately welcomed their first child together. He confirmed the news in a March 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly (via People), saying, "We're right at the beginning of it. We're doing the very basics right now."

Though he prefers to maintain a low profile, Cera did open up more about fatherhood in a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "I think the only thing that it affects is that you just want to spend as much time with them as possible. So when I was 20, I would have been way happier to go off to some weird city and live in a hotel for three months. And when you have kids, you want to be with your family. And you miss them a lot," he said.
