Dr. Jill Biden Reacts to WSJ Op-Ed: "One of the Things I'm Most Proud of Is My Doctorate"
Dr. Jill Biden was surprised by a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed that attacked her doctorate degree, but she's "so grateful" to all the people who spoke out in her defense. On Thursday, the future first lady and President-elect Joe Biden sat down with Stephen Colbert to discuss the sexist article written by Joseph Epstein that questioned the validity of the educator's doctorate title.

"It was really the tone of it that I think that — you know, he called me 'kiddo' — and one of the things I'm most proud of is my doctorate. I mean, I worked so hard for it," Jill said. "Look at all the people who came out in support of me. I'm so grateful and I was just overwhelmed by how gracious people were to me." When Stephen asked Joe about his reaction to the article, he quipped, "I've been suppressing my Irishness for a long time."
Jill has a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees from Pennsylvania's Brandywine Junior College. She also has a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware. After the WSJ op-ed was published on Dec. 11, several public figures came to Jill's defense, including Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
