Before there was Hannah Montana, there was Lizzie McGuire, and right from the start, you couldn't help but wish that Hilary Duff was your BFF 4ever. Lizzie McGuire hit the small screen in 2001, and Duff's lovable character had all the sass and style of one very cool tween. The show ended in 2004, and since then, Duff's Hollywood résumé has been packed with films. Although she's made some TV appearances on shows like Gossip Girl, Community, and Two and a Half Men, she hasn't been part of a regular TV cast since her Disney days. That's about to change, though, because she's starring in Younger, a TV Land series that's based on Pamela Redmond Satran's novel by the same name.
The new show follows Liza (Sutton Foster), a 40-year-old single mom who gets a makeover from her best friend (Debi Mazar) and tries to pass herself off as a 26-year-old. When Liza dives back into the working world, she befriends a coworker named Kelsey, played by Duff. To celebrate Duff's return to TV, we're looking back on why Lizzie McGuire is the coolest.
