The Butler Trailer: See Famous Actors Play Our Most Famous Presidents

It's only May, but the trailer for Lee Daniels's The Butler already has me thinking about award season.

It's only May, but the trailer for Lee Daniels's The Butler already has me thinking about award season. The drama stars Forest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, a butler who serves eight US presidents over the course of his three decades at the White House. Working through particularly volatile moments in the country's history, he gains a unique perspective on the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, the Watergate scandal, and more. Oprah Winfrey plays Cecil's wife, marking the first time she's been on screen playing a character other than herself since 1998's Beloved.

Whitaker and Winfrey aren't the only big names in the movie. The laundry list of stars playing presidents is fascinating: Robin Williams is Dwight Eisenhower, James Marsden is John F. Kennedy (with Minka Kelly as Jackie Kennedy!), Liev Schreiber is Lyndon Johnson, John Cusack is Richard Nixon, and Alan Rickman is Ronald Reagan. Not all the actors resemble their presidential counterparts, so I'm curious to see how this pans out. The film opens Oct. 18, and you can see the trailer after the jump.

The Paperboy Trailer: McConaughey, Efron, and Kidman Make the South Dirty

It's time for your shirtless Zac Efron break with The Paperboy trailer, but be warned, this is not a wholesome outing for the heartthrob.

It's time for your shirtless Zac Efron break with The Paperboy trailer, but be warned, this is not a wholesome outing for the heartthrob. In the 1960s-set drama directed by Precious's Lee Daniels, Efron plays Jack, the younger brother of reporter Ward (Matthew McConaughey). Jack is helping Ward investigate the case of Hillary Van Wetter (John Cusack), who is accused of murder and sitting on death row. Sexing up the whole situation is Charlotte (Nicole Kidman), a vivacious blonde who claims to be in love with Hillary, despite the fact that she's never met him before. However, Charlotte's devotion to Hillary doesn't prevent her from seducing young Jack, which seems to lead him to some violence amid the steamy Southern backdrop.

The Paperboy looks sexy, grimy, and pretty bananas, though I love seeing Kidman sashaying around on screen and acting quite crazy. Even if you're not into the story, it's worth the watch just to spy Efron slow-dancing with Kidman in his tighty-whities. The movie comes out Oct. 5, but you can watch the trailer after the jump.

Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Matthew McConaughey were back in the spotlight at Cannes today to premiere The Paperboy in front of a glamorous crowd. The trio was up early this morning for a photocall, where Nicole wowed in a red dress. She changed into a gorgeous Lanvin gown for this afternoon's event, which also brought out Heidi Klum in Marchesa. John Cusack and director Lee Daniels were on hand, as was Macy Gray. There are only a few days left at the Cannes Film Festival, but before things wrap up, Robert Pattinson will hit the red carpet for the second time to show off Cosmopolis.

Before the launch of iTunes, John Cusack got a glimpse at the future of music, straight from Steve Jobs himself. His response? "I'll pass."

On last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, John talked about how after filming High Fidelity, the Apple CEO gave him a sneak peek at what would become iTunes and the iPod, because he wanted the actor to do a commercial. John wasn't interested in doing the commercial, but now he's kicking himself for a missed opportunity. Check out the clip.

The Raven Trailer: John Cusack Gets Into Edgar Allan Poe's Gory Lore

If you're at all familiar with the work of Edgar Allan Poe, then you know just how dark and twisted the 19th-century writer could be.

If you're at all familiar with the work of Edgar Allan Poe, then you know just how dark and twisted the 19th-century writer could be. With that in mind, it's no surprise that the trailer for the The Raven looks mysterious and gruesome — it centers on a serial killer that gets inspiration from Poe's various tales. Naturally, the detective that's investigating (Luke Evans) immediately points a finger at Edgar himself (John Cusack). When Edgar asserts his innocence, he gets sucked into the murderer's sordid game that eventually targets Edgar's love (Alice Eve) to be the subject of one of Edgar's stories.

The film looks creepy (if not downright nauseating), and it's fun to recognize Poe's various work, like "The Pit and the Pendulum." My biggest gripe about the trailer is that I'm not completely buying Cusack as Poe, particularly his delivery with some of the dated dialogue. The film hits theaters next March, but get your first peek after the jump.

Matthew McConaughey Looks Good in the Big Easy

Matthew McConaughey suited up and reported to the set of The Paperboy on location in New Orleans yesterday.

Matthew McConaughey suited up and reported to the set of The Paperboy on location in New Orleans yesterday. He joins an impressive cast of actors in the Lee Daniels-directed project including Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and John Cusack. Nicole and Zac made some major hair changes for the film; Nicole debuted platinum blond hair earlier in the week while Zac was seen leaving his trailer with lighter locks. Matthew seems to be sticking with his slicked-back curls in addition to his fresh-off-the-beach golden glow. It's been a relatively quiet, and clothed, Summer for Matthew, but we'll get to see more of his perfectly toned torso next week when we kick off PopSugar's annual shirtless bracket! For now he's logging time in front of the camera, and soon enough he'll hit the road promoting another project, Killer Joe. Matthew will join fellow heavy hitters like George Clooney and Brad Pitt debuting new films in the coming months at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals.

Nicole Kidman Delivers a Hot, Blond Look For The Paperboy

A newly blond Nicole Kidman arrived on set with her costar John Cusack in New Orleans today.

A newly blond Nicole Kidman arrived on set with her costar John Cusack in New Orleans today. Production on The Paperboy has begun, and director Lee Daniels put together an all-star cast including Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, and Tobey Maguire. Nicole was one of the last actors to sign on. She was a replacement for Sofia Vergara after the latter had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with Modern Family. The new hue comes as a big change for Nicole, who recently stepped out in NYC with her husband, Keith Urban, modeling her trademark red tresses. It's been a busy year personally and professionally for Nicole, since she wrapped up work on HBO's Hemingway & Gellhorn this Spring and kicked back on a family vacation in Australia with Keith, Sunday, and Faith Urban last month.
