Jesse Eisenberg Will Play Lex Luthor in the Superman Sequel

Remember when people were all up in arms when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman? Here's another casting in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel that may be as controversial: Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor, the iconic nemesis of Superman (Henry Cavill) in the Batman/Superman film. Director Snyder commented on the decision, saying that Lex is "a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth, and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions." Additionally, Jeremy Irons has been cast as Alfred, Batman's right-hand man.
