Count the Clichés in the Trailer For Nicholas Sparks's Latest Love Story

We love a good movie as much as the next girl, but the trailer for Nicholas Sparks's latest, The Best of Me, isn't doing much to differentiate itself from pretty much any other movie romance that came before it. In fact, much of what we see is a carbon copy of The Notebook: they meet young, and a parent just wants the best for his daughter, so they break up, only to reunite years later in their small town and find that it wasn't over (and still isn't over). The tweaks here are that the lovers, Amanda and Dawson, are played by Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden, and it takes them 20 years to get back together (the younger versions of Amanda and Dawson are played by Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato). Aside from Marsden looking scorchingly hot, I'm not sure what this movie has to offer . . . not that it's stopped us from seeing a Sparks adaptaion before. The Best of Me comes out Oct. 17, so check out the trailer now.
