Traveling is fun and all, but I get full-on separation anxiety when I leave my TiVo. I love that little guy, and I totally get guilty feelings of entertainment debt.
Luckily, there's iTiVo, a download for Macs that connects to your specific TiVo and then downloads your shows into iTunes so you can put your recorded programs onto your iPhone or iPod.

I've always loved being able to watch TiVoCasts — short video series like Diggnation — on my TiVo.
TiVoCasts were of course derived from podcasts, which I still adore, audio-only aspect and all. (Current fave?

Now that I've equipped you with all the tools you need when shopping for your tech savvy mama, I have to make sure I keep you abreast of all the tech deals and promotions happening this week as well!
Just in time for Mother's Day (and continuing on for the rest of the month), whenever you buy a TiVo, you will also receive six months free of Netflix! Considering basic plans run from $5 to $17 (the most popular plan being the $14 a month, 2 DVDs out at a time), mom can save around $84, and watch all her favorite movies over and over again.

Last week's revelation that TiVo is rolling out their Pause Menu Ads to their Series 3 and HD TiVos aroused many opinions — some of you are annoyed at having to see more ads, while some of you think that the pause menu ads are pretty unobtrusive.
In the former group? TeamSugar member Blaq came to our rescue in the comments with instructions for how to bypass the ads.

When I got a TiVo, my motivation was basically wanting to be able to watch TV shows on my own schedule (whether that has made me smarter or cooler is debatable). Not having to watch commercials was a small reason, but a huge bonus — I paid for the DVR technology, so I felt entitled to control what I watched.
Except having a TiVo isn't synonymous with ad-free TV anymore.

I've been running an interesting experiment. OK, it's not really an experiment, it's the way I've been forced to live for the past week while waiting for my new TiVo. Here it is: Suddenly, I know when TV shows are on, and my butt is on the couch at certain times.

Get ready, get set TiVo owners and subscribers, because BlockBuster OnDemand will be coming to your TiVo later this year.
Similar to the partnership with Blockbuster and 2Wire, TiVo members will soon be able to rent, as well as purchase thousands of Blockbuster movies via their TiVo and instantly watch them on their TV.
No announcement on pricing yet, but the OnDemand functionality will be available to TiVo Series 2, 3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL DVRs.

Did you know that there is a world of TiVo paraphernalia? TiVo's website has a ton of goofy TiVo branded merchandise, including dolls and hats. Check out some of the funnier selections in my slideshow.

It's not easy or cheap keeping children amused. They hoot and holler for a toy or DVD when you're standing at the check out, but realize they prefer their ratty teddy bear and binky the moment you get in the car. The economy has so many of us tightening our spending budgets and seeking simple ways to save on everyday expenses so there's little room for whim purchases.

I still remember the day I got my first DVR. I plopped down on the couch, happily scrolling through all the options, hitting record on anything that looked remotely interesting, just because I could.
And then I never watched half of it.
