The Office, "St. Patrick's Day": Best Lines of the Night

It's St. Patrick's Day at The Office this week, and the entire Scranton branch is decked out in green. Jo (Kathy Bates) is back for the special celebration, but unfortunately she's all work and no play - which, of course, drives Michael bananas.

I was curious to watch where the writers picked up after the birth of baby Halpert, and we get a quick glimpse of little Cecilia in her Irish onesie. Jim is going through the parental pangs of having her at home, which Dwight manipulates to his full advantage. Oh, and in one of my favorite storylines of the night, Erin and Andy finally go out on their date. Well, sorta.

The episode wasn't rip-roaringly funny to me, but that's OK, because there were still a few cute zingers to make up for it (Megadesk!). Let's recap.

"It is St. Patrick's Day, and here in Scranton, that is a huge deal. It is the closest that the Irish will ever get to Christmas." - Michael
Michael fails to realize that most Irish are Catholics, but no matter, because I loved seeing the crew wearing its best green. Michael has his tie on, Andy sports a kilt - even Meredith looks classy. Michael seems particularly fond of the holiday, calling green M&Ms "nature's Viagra" and making plans to have everyone hit the bar afterward. That is, until Jo shows up, forcing them to stay late.

More memorable lines when you read more.

"Tweedledee and Tweedledumbass have been away on maternity leave, and now Tweedledumbass is back and we have a problem. Yes, getting hooked on Megadesk was my own damn fault, but I don't care about assigning blame. All I care about is Megadesk." – Dwight
Megadesk! This is the funniest shtick of the episode, as Dwight has joined his desk with Jim's to create a giant work station. Jim yanks it apart, but Dwight refuses to give up. He's so in love with Megadesk that he hatches a plan: make Jim feel guilty about his child, so he'll leave.
"They say that no man is an island. False. I am an island, and this island is volcanic, and it is about to erupt with the molten hot lava of strategy." - Dwight
Dwight puts into motion his plan of getting Jim out of the office by playing on Jim's emotions. When that doesn't work, he annoys him to death by singing "Cat's in the Cradle" (with Andy chiming in, of course). Jim gets him back in a good way though, by swooping in and requesting to leave early before Dwight has the chance. Dwight returns later to find that Jim has reinvented his Megadesk into Quaddesk. Genius. Keep the hiijinks coming, Jim.
Erin: "Andy, I'm in my jammy-jams."
Andy: "That's all right, I'm in my worky-works."
They may be the most dorky couple on the planet, but you have to admit that Andy and Erin are pretty darn cute. After their first date gets thwarted due to Erin's cold, Andy fakes being sick himself so he can go to her place to spend time together. It looks like they're making progress as they start holding hands on the couch, but soon Erin's roommate - her foster brother - interrupts the mood. Even worse: things seem borderline romantic between the two siblings. Awkward, but hilarious! Luckily, Erin helps salvage the night by planting a kiss on Andy's cheek. Also, can we just acknowledge the cleaning crew? They were only onscreen for maybe two seconds, but they made me laugh harder than anything else in this episode. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Darryl move up the food chain and get his own office on the main floor. I hope this means we'll be seeing more of him in the coming weeks.

Found It! The Office's Hospital Room Painting

Oh baby Cecilia Marie Halpert, how happy I am for your arrival! Thanks to you, this week's The Office gave us a rare treat - a completely flustered (read: adorable) Jim. As the parents prepare for the birth, Pam is insistent on waiting until midnight to go to the hospital, thereby getting two days of insurance. But as her contractions get closer, she has mini-breakdowns over her iPod, and Jim tosses baby books like a crazy person. And I loved it. What a nice break to see the normally cool and collected couple be the nutty ones for a change.

Don't get me wrong, the entire Dunder Mifflin gang is a weird mix of emotions, too. Angela starts to question her own maternal instincts, Andy gets incentive to ask out Erin, and Michael becomes a regular matchmaker (with disastrous results, of course). It made for a really fun, sweet episode, and I can't wait to relive it all. Let's begin with a few of my favorite quotes!

"I need a baby. I'll never outsell Jim and Pam without one. Also, I've been noticing a gaping hole in my life. Sometimes I wake up cradling a gourd."-Dwight
Dwight gets jealous when Pam and Jim get more orders due to pulling the pregnancy card and plots for his own offspring - with none other than Angela as his accomplice. Dwight has a ton of regulations for their parent partnership (one which includes a Winter vegetable mash), but Angela agrees to the stipulations, because she obviously still has feelings for the lug. Do you think they'll get back together? Angela herself seems to think so, and I do, too. Or perhaps the reappearance of Isabelle is going to foil it?

"I love escorting people. In fact, a few years back, I put an ad in the paper starting an escort service. I got a lot of responses. Mostly creeps. Made a few friends."-Dwight
Dwight offering to lead you through traffic is never a good idea. Case in point: when Jim and Pam follow him to the hospital (in a car driven by Michael - mistake No. 1), he pulls out a fake police siren and gets pulled over by Bruce, a real officer who apparently knows Dwight on a first-name basis.
"I've got to go wash my eyes. That kid's going to have a lot of hair."-Michael
I know, I know, the implication is super gross, but I did chuckle watching Michael come out of the delivery room while Pam went into labor. He does actually look like he's just seen horror of all horrors. And then I laughed again as he tries to knock on the door despite her screaming - and then as the baby cries, and he lights a cigar in the obviously non-smoking hospital. You've got to admit though, that it is incredibly sweet to watch him hold little Cecilia. To see it again, just check out the video.

"Kevin has an enormous heart. Literally, he has an elephant heart. He had a transplant."-Michael
Oh man, how uncomfortable is it to watch Erin squirm, as Michael tries to play cupid for her and Kevin? I mean, Kevin?! On the positive end, it does get Erin to confess to Michael that she has feelings for Andy - and it finally puts some fire under Andy to ask her out. Granted his fax idea doesn't go as smoothly as planned, but they're making a date. Finally! I'm actually rooting for these two, how about you?

Other highlights of the night: Andy's "The Evolution of Dance" dance, Dwight "taking care" of Jim and Pam's mold problem, and Andy hiding behind the plant. Angela and Erin on The Office Baby - and Peeing Their Pants

It's a big day at The Office! Not only do we finally get a peek at Jim and Pam's little bundle of joy in tonight's episode, but Erin and Angela are working on a side project, too, with the latest addition to the show's online web series.

Titled "The Mentor," the videos follow Erin around as she learns the ropes of accounting under Angela's tutelage and becomes her mini me of sorts. Actors Angela Kinsey and Ellie Kemper recently sat down with reporters to discuss their new collaboration and their excitement over Baby Halpert.

Kinsey on how the baby will affect the show: "Our show is about an ensemble of people who work together. It's about Michael Scott and his co-workers. And anything else that's added to that is just a little bit of seasoning or spice; it's never the meat of a show, you know. And I think that this baby will be a little bit of seasoning sprinkled through of how it maybe is affecting Pam or Jim. But I think ultimately our show is about an office and that's what will be concentrated on."
Kinsey on how her Anne Geddes-obsessed character might dress up the Halpert baby: "I think come Christmas time I could try to make a live Nativity scene..."

Kinsey on why Angela befriends Erin in "The Mentor": "I sort of feel like Angela Martin wants a friend but she's so prickly that it takes such a tall order to be her friend. But, you know, she's not - she's not a robot, you know. She misses Dwight, she misses her friends, I mean, because I think he was her best friend. And, you know, I'm sure her ladies group at church is catty."
Kinsey on a Dwight and Angela reunion: "We're geeky militant soul mates. And [Rainn and I] hope that someday they find their way back to one another."
Kemper on Erin's new Angela-inspired wardrobe: "They're tiny, tiny buttons. I feel like my fine motor skills were completely...I couldn't button them they were so small. It is weird, it's like, yeah, it's a throwback to another era I guess. I liked it, but it was only because it was for one day. I liked having my hair in a French braid. I liked being sort of like uptight I guess."
Kinsey on Angela's advice for new couple Erin and Andy: "She'd probably tell Erin like, 'Really? Andy? Really? Walk away now fool.' And then she would probably tell them, because she's hypocritical, she'd probably tell them it's highly inappropriate; you shouldn't date at work."
Kemper on breaking character: "I think it's one of the most terrible feelings to have to hold in laughter...I have a problem. I haven't done this yet, Angela, and again too much information - I wet my pants a lot when I laugh too hard...I'm shocked it hasn't happened on set because it happens like, like in improv shows. It is that thing where you're holding in laughter and it's like - it has to come out!"

Behind the Scenes Peek: Jim and Pam Talk Baby Halpert!

The Office returns next week with a special delivery - Jim and Pam's baby is finally here! I'm very excited to see their new girl (or boy!), but even more so, I can't wait to watch how the rest of the characters react. You know that Dwight and Michael are going to try to nudge their way into her hospital room somehow.

While we wait for the arrival, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer recently sat down to discuss the impending birth and the effect it's going to have on Jim and Pam as they become parents. It's a cute interview - and reminds me of why I loved the couple to begin with. I know some of you were mixed on whether the addition of the baby to the show would be a good thing, but perhaps the video will sway your opinion. Check it out when you read more.

It feels like the Olympics are just getting warmed up, but believe it or not, we're coming down the homestretch already! This year has already been filled with iconic moments, but the cast of The Office recently took a break to share their favorite memories of games over time.

When it comes to the Winter games, figure skating has always been near and dear to my heart - I have vivid memories of cheering on Tara Lipinski (she skated to the theme from Anastasia!) and a few years later I watched with friends as Sarah Hughes skated to victory. Plus, I think everyone remembers the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding scandal. What are your most memorable moments of all time?

Do You Think Baby Halpert Can Give The Office a Boost?

The Office has been going downhill lately, and I'm starting to wonder if our days at Dunder Mifflin are numbered. Don't get me wrong: I still adore the characters, but the magic and hilarious one-liners that I so enjoyed in the first few seasons are harder and harder to find these days. With Jim and Pam as the heart of the show, maybe they hold the key to turning it all around. I'm not a huge fan of how smug they've become around the office since getting together, but there's no denying the sweetness of their wedding episode.

Much like their nuptials, NBC is making it very well known that the baby is just around the corner (right after the Olympics on March 4, to be exact). Which brings me to my question: will their little one be a game changer? Naturally, it's going to affect the characters' lives, but will it also bring some fresh jokes and hilarious new situations to the show? Weigh in: do you think baby Halpert will give The Office a much-needed boost?

The Office, "Manager and Salesman": Best Lines of the Night!

Happy Valentine's Day from The Office! And what a sweet holiday treat it is. This week's episode not only delivers oodles of quips, but I also got two of my dream gifts: the return of Jim to the sales team and more Kelly Kapoor.

Ever since Jim took on his managerial position, he's kind of been a stick in the mud, but from the looks of it, he may be returning to his old, adorable prankster self. As for Kelly, she also got decent camera time, thanks to guy-related drama (what else is new?).

To sum up, the evening made me smile - which hasn't exactly been a regular occurrence as of late. So without further ado, let's dive into some of the best quotes.

Andy: "These sure are pretty dogs."
Jo: "They love a good crotch."
Andy: "Yeah, they sure do."
Jo: "You should take that as a compliment."

When Jolene (Kathy Bates), the CEO of Sabre, arrives at the Scranton branch with her two giant dogs, they can't seem to get enough of Andy's, er, nether regions. Okay, the joke is pretty basic (and a little juvenile), but I was practically dying during the sequence of scenes with them coming on to Andy at his desk, at the printer, and everywhere else.

Erin: "Aww, a bird and a dog."
Andy: "Yeah, well it's Snoopy and Woodstock."
Erin: "You named them?"
Andy: "Charles Schulz did."

Wow, Andy just can't win in this episode, can he? He wants to give Erin a valentine, so he buys them for the entire office so it doesn't look like he's coming on too strong. And then she doesn't even understand his card! Erin really went up a few notches for me this week. She's still technically the new girl on the block, but she's really proving herself to be a major player.

"I have been saying the word 'manager' a lot, so whenever Jo thinks 'manager', she thinks of me. Camel cigarettes did the same thing with Joe Camel by making him look like a penis. I can't even go near a cigarette now without thinking of a penis. And vice versa." - Michael
Say what?! Michael's interplay with Jim as they try to outdo each other for the manager position (and then the sales position) is pretty entertaining. I'm happy with how things turn out though, aren't you? Watching Michael squirm in the middle of the sales pod (poor Phyllis and her allergy meds!) is fun to witness, but by the end things are back to how they should be -- Michael as Manager, Jim in Sales. When Jim sticks Dwight's tie in his coffee, I had to smile to myself. Old Jim is back -- I hope.

"I guess Andy likes me. I never thought of him that way. But I guess in most romantic comedies, the guy you're supposed to be with is the one you never thought of in that way. You might have even thought he was annoying or possibly homosexual." - Kelly
Kelly Kapoor! Kelly gets confused when Andy gives her an overly gushing Valentine's card, and thinks he now has a crush on her. Which, of course, she immediately brags about to Erin and everyone else. I love seeing Kelly in action -- and we usually don't get enough of it. Honorable mention goes to Meredith for this line: "Believe me, if I got that card? We'd be doing in the bathroom right now."

Dwight: "The new IT guy, Nick. I think he's the key; he's very trusting, he's looking for friends, he's been given an awesome amount of power and does not know how to wield it..."
Ryan: "Like Frodo."
Dwight: "Why don't you just let me handle the Tolkein references? Okay, dumb jock?"
Ryan: "Well, I think he can be corrupted. Like Gollum."
Dwight: "Smigel was corrupted and became Gollum."
I don't know that I'd normally put Ryan and Dwight together, but joined by a common goal -- taking down Jim -- they actually serve as a hilarious duo. I love when Dwight likens the movie Saw to going on a seesaw. Please writers, give us more dumpster meetings between Bobcat and Dragon!

The Office, "Sabre": Best Lines of the Night

The Office is finally back this week (and I don't mean with a weak clip show). Dunder-Mifflin has been bought out by a company called Sabre, which means some ch-ch-changes for Michael and the rest of the crew. We get a couple of celebrity cameos, a little Pam and Jim awkwardness, and most importantly - the invention of the "suckit."

"Have you tried making everything smaller?" - Creed
You can always count on Creed to make a totally offbeat comment, and this time his unhelpful remark is directed at Pam and Oscar as they try to repack Gabe's box of office equipment.
"Erin, scissor me please." - Michael
"Beer me" has always been one of my favorite phrases to come out of Dunder-Mifflin, but Michael takes it to a new level here. I particularly loved the look of awe and horror on Pam's face.
"There is a small part of me that is actually very excited about this new company. But 70 percent of me is water, and the other part, the real part, the part that has feelings and emotions and thoughts and makes decisions, and, if I can be crass, makes babies. . . that part thinks that all of these changes suck ba---." - Michael
Michael's speeches can be pretty hit or miss, but I really enjoyed this one about the new office repertoire, especially because the cut to commercial could not have been more perfectly timed.
"Have you ever tasted a rainbow? At Sabre, you will." - Christian Slater
That's right, Christian Slater makes a cameo and delivers one of the best lines of the night. 'Nuff said.
"Is this because Jim walked in on you going to the bathroom?" - Pam
In general I've been finding most of the Pam and Jim baby stuff to be a little dull, but I totally cracked up when Pam just went for it at the daycare interview.
