When it comes to unwinding with movies or TV, though, beware: certain stories will be wedding bliss buzzkills. What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to my selections below you can also add Defiance, Army Wives: Season Two, Reaper: Season Two, and Prison Break: Season Four to your queue.

Revolutionary Road
When I first read Richard Yates's 1961 novel, Revolutionary Road, I wasn't positive it would make a good movie. However, Sam Mendes does an artful job directing his wife, Kate Winslet, and her Titanic costar Leonardo DiCaprio in this story of domestic discontent set in the '50s. I also love the costuming in this movie, inspired by the era's amazing fashions.

If you didn't catch this one in theaters, it's well worth your time at home - just be prepared feel a little sad about life afterward. It's not exactly uplifting.

Special features include commentary with director Sam Mendes and screenwriter Justin Haythe, deleted scenes with commentary, and a featurette titled, "Lives of Quiet Desperation: The Making of Revolutionary Road."

He's Just Not That Into You
The movie adaptation of the bestselling "self-help" book He's Just Not That Into You has a very large, very recognizable ensemble cast. Most of the screen time goes to the adorable Ginnifer Goodwin who plays a Baltimore woman desperately attempting to decode what she perceives to be mixed signals from men. Justin Long plays a bartender whose harsh words of advice ultimately spark a friendship between the two.

The rest of the cast features Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, and Ben Affleck.

Special features include deleted scenes, audio commentary, and featurettes titled: "Birthday Party/Walk Home," "Anna Visits Her Mom," "Anna's Song," and "Gigi's Date With Bill."

Spring Breakdown
I'm fairly certain Spring Breakdown went straight to DVD and it doesn't even qualify for a Rotten Tomatoes score. None of this bodes well, but I still want to see this comedy because I'm such a huge fan of the leading ladies: Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch and Parker Posey. Amber Tamblyn's even in it! I feel like it's hard to go that wrong with that cast. (Those may be famous last words.)

Here's the Netflix plot description: "Desperate to spice up their boring lives, three thirtysomething women set off for a vacation on a tropical island known for its raucous Spring Break parties. But instead of recapturing their youth, they wind up mothering a senator's shy daughter. As they help the awkward girl grow more comfortable in her own skin, they, too, learn to embrace aging with wit, joy and grace."

Special features include commentary by Director Ryan Shiraki and Rachel Dratch plus a gag reel.

Weeds: Season 4
June 8 is just around the corner, folks, so now is the time to catch up on Showtime's wickedly funny fourth season of Weeds before the new season premieres.

These 13 episodes include Albert Brooks as Mary-Louise Parker's crazy father-in-law. We also watch Parker's character Nancy take her kids and her business partner, Conrad, to set up "the business" down at a border town. As usual, questionable parenting decisions abound and it's totally awesome.

Special features include gags, cast and crew commentaries, and featurettes titled: "Little Titles by Jenji Kohan," "Moving Weight," "I'm a Big Kid Now," "The Real Hunter Parrish," "Tour of Bubbie's House," "One Stop Chop Shop," "The Weed Wranglers," and "Burbs to the Beach."

Oscar Worthy Gadgets: Revolutionary Road

Concluding this year's Oscar Worthy Gadgets series is a movie up for three Academy Award nominations, including best costume design, art direction, and Michael Shannon's nomination for his performance in a supporting role. Starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, Revolutionary Road takes us inside the lives of a couple who struggle with the mundane realities of living in a Connecticut suburb.

Because the movie is set during the mid-1950s, there were many vintage tech shots. We not only see the classic dial telephones in Frank's office (where he works on computer manuals), but when Frank and his female co-worker are out at a high-end restaurant, Frank is handed a retro phone to make a call - right from his table.

And who can forget the emotional scene near the end of the movie when Kate's character, April, uses the hanging wall phone to call her babysitter? It was simple yet powerful gadget placements like these that made me feel a part of this time period.

Oscar Nominee: Revolutionary Road For Best Costume Design

As we gear up for the Oscars, I'll be featuring the nominees for Best Costume Design. It's a big year for this category as the films nominated represent vastly different historical periods. Be it 18th-century England or San Francisco in the '70s, these films include some gorgeous threads. Today's featured movie is Revolutionary Road.

While Mad Men gave us a weekly dose of 1950s/early-1960s fashion over the Summer, Revolutionary Road brought the era's aesthetic to the silver screen in all its classically tailored glory. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio play a married couple who appear to have everything, even though a storm of discontent brews below the surface. The immaculate costumes created for the actors, with their delicate pastels, only make the movie's sad and disturbing subtext that much more powerful by contrast.

Dev Reunites With Nick At Film Critics' Circle Awards

As awards season carries on at a great pace, last night the Film Critics' Circle Awards took place in London. It was also a mini Skins reunion as ex-castmates Nick Hoult and Dev Patel posed for some photos together, grinning happily. Dev's movie Slumdog Millionaire carried on its wonderful winning spree, and picked up three awards at the ceremony for best director, screenwriter and Attenborough film of the year. Kate Winslet did not attend, but won actress of the year, while Dame Judi Dench deservedly took home an award for her outstanding contribution to cinema.

Young Brit acting talent Thomas Turgoose picked up an award for his work in Eden Lake and Somers Town, and other attendees included Georgia Groome, Mariella Frostrup, and the director of The Wrestler Darren Aronofsky, which was named film of the year.

Sugar Bits - JK Rowling Knighted by Nicolas Sarkozy

JK Rowling has been inducted in to France's prestigious Legion of Honour. Nicolas Sarkozy has given her the honorary title of "knight" at a ceremony at Paris's Elysee presidential palace yesterday. - PA
Jade Goody's cancer has spread to her liver, bowel and groin. Her doctors, who had previously estimated that Jade had a 40 per cent chance of survival, have now started treatment to prolong her life for as long as possible, instead of pursuing a cure. Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears's former manager, is suing Britney and her parents for breach of contract and defamation. He is also claiming battery, libel and intentional infliction of emotional distress. - People
Mischa Barton has reportedly been dumped by her boyfriend since December, Luke Pritchard from The Kooks. Apparently, heartbroken Mischa suggested Luke visit her in Paris and he got "cold feet". - The Sun
Tickets for this summer's Glastonbury have already sold out nearly five months in advance, even though the official lineup hasn't even been confirmed. - Guardian

PopUK's New Release Roundup!

Welcome to my roundup of this week's new releases! First up, Tropic Thunder comes out on DVD this week, so if you missed it at the cinema you can check out Robert Downey Jr's Oscar-nominated performance as appearance-changing serious Australian actor Kirk Lazurus. Ben Stiller directed, wrote and stars in the movie, Jack Black costars and Tom Cruise has a great cameo as a studio head. Also released is the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' Little Dorrit, with Matthew Macfadyen.

Lily Allen's "The Fear" is released to download this week, along with Ida Maria's "Oh My God", Fleet Foxes "Mykonos", and Bloc Party's "One Month Off". Franz Ferdinand release their new album Tonight - listen here - and LA based band The Bird and The Bee put out their fab Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future - listen on myspace.

Looking forward to Friday's movie releases, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunite in Revolutionary Road - an adaptation of the fantastic Richard Yates novel. On the slightly more indie side of things, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist also comes out, starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings and telling the story of how Nick and Norah meet, and what plays out over their night in New York.

Leo Has Kate and Bar to Help Revolutionary Road

Leonardo DiCaprio headed to London this weekend with his girlfriend Bar Refaeli but when he hit the red carpet Kate Winslet was by his side. Leo has a gorgeous woman at all times and while Kate gave him a sweet thank you at the Golden Globes, their hearts are already involved with her husband and his girlfriend. Kate is already a winner this year and with Oscar nominations just a few days away, we'll see how they fare when it comes to the big event.

Kate and Leo Revolutionise London

This weekend Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet were in town for the Revolutionary Road premiere in London's Leicester Square. Hot on the heels of her amazing Golden Globes success and two BAFTA nominations, Kate looked stunning in her skintight black dress as the Titanic twosome posed together on the red carpet. Leo said they'd been actively looking for a project to work on together since their first time teaming up onscreen, but nothing had appealed to them both until this book adaptation.

Other guests at last night's premiere included Dermot O'Leary, Konnie Huq, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her hubby Richard Jones of The Feeling, Tim Vincent, Liz McLarnon and Nick Moran.

2009 Bafta Awards - The Nominations

Jonathan Ross will host the Bafta Awards this year, he announced via his Twitter yesterday, and all of the nominations for this year's ceremony have now been released. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House in London on February 8, and Kate Winslet continues her awesome awards season with two nominations in the best actress category, and Slumdog Millionaire has an enormous 11 nominations including Best Actor for lovely Dev Patel!
