If you're one of the many music fiends heading to (or already in) Manchester, TN, this weekend for Bonnaroo, I'm envious of you. Then again, you're probably not reading this right now, since there are, you know, just a few awesome bands to see. For those of us not quite lucky enough to make it to Bonnaroo, I've made up a playlist of songs by some of the acts featured at the festival.

The Coachella music festival begins today in Indio, CA, and sadly, I'm missing out on it this year. But the lineup is so great I figured I'd put together a lil playlist with music by some of my favorite musicians who are heading down to Indio, perhaps right as we speak (or type).
I'm really pleased with this playlist: a little Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Cheated Hearts"), some Franz Ferdinand ("Lucid Dreams"), and Beirut ("Scenic World"), along with tunes by the more seasoned folks like Leonard Cohen ("Everybody Knows"), The Cure ("Close to Me") and, of course, Paul McCartney ("Maybe I'm Amazed").

This sunny Spring weather has definitely lifted my spirits, and it's a time for many people to rekindle old romances, and find new ones as well. So take a long relaxing stroll in the sunshine with someone special, and enjoy these sentimental songs about love. This playlist is about 45 minutes long so if you walk the entire time at a moderate pace (3 mph), you'll end up burning 155 calories.

I have been a big fan of Bon Jovi for a long time now, and when I watched this creative rendition of Livin' on a Prayer on GiggleSugar my fandom was definitely rekindled. That song definitely tops on my list of songs musical workout inspiration. Come to think of it, there are tons of Bon Jovi songs that inspire me to move.

Did you know "The Way You Look Tonight" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song when it was featured in the 1936 movie Swing Time? I did not know this until I recently looked up all the Oscar-winning songs from the past and learned that there's a truly awesome playlist to be made from all those winners.
How else would I have thought to put together "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" (included in the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), "Moon River" as performed by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, "Flashdance" from Flashdance, "Lose Yourself" from 8 Mile and "Falling Slowly" from Once?

It's Super Bowl weekend, and although this isn't a holiday, you'll probably end up eating like it is. So work off those nachos, chicken wings, and slices of pizza with this 40-minute cardio playlist. It's filled with old-school '90s songs and hits from today that are sure to pull you out of your food coma.

There's something about these songs that makes me feel all warm and cozy — like I'm already home and snuggled in for the holidays. If some country Christmas songs have a similar effect on you, check out my playlist after the jump. Some of my very favorites include "Merry Christmas Mary" with Johnny Cash's rich, deep voice giving thanks to the woman who, you know, helped make the first Christmas happen, and the exuberant "Baby Jesus Is Born" by Garth Brooks.

No, not every song on this playlist is "rock," but they all rock in their own ways, and they're all fun. I enjoy some of the new takes on old favorites that have come out over the past few years (Aimee Mann's songs, Sufjan Stevens's holiday CD box set), and of course, there are a few shout-outs to rockin' holiday tunes that aren't too recent ("Christmas in Hollis" and "Run Rudolph Run"). The one sure thing is that these are not your traditional old carols.
