The return of Ted's yellow umbrella and a certain female character on this week's How I Met Your Mother has gotten people all abuzz about whether she could be the mother in the show's title. While I'm not passing judgment on that particular matter quite yet (though my instinct is that she's not), the incident got me thinking about whether the mother will be someone we already know.
Do you think the mother of the title will be a character the show has already introduced, if only in passing?

On this week's How I Met Your Mother, Ted's legendary overzealousness with love blew up in his face in a text-messaging epic prank (but that's another post). However, what made him a victim was the fact that his friends knew he would violate the "three day rule" that says you must wait three days before calling or texting someone you just met (I guess the Swingers two-day rule is passé now, huh?).
So aside from Ted's uber-dorky use of the term "texty-text," what we really need to discuss is this rule.

The cast of How I Met Your Mother gathered in LA last night for an event at the Academy of Television Arts And Sciences. The show's pregnant stars Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders brought along their men — Alyson with her husband Alexis Denisof while newly-engaged Cobie showed off the rock given to her by Taran Killam. Neil Patrick Harris rubbed both of their baby bumps before they all took the stage to talk about their program and sign autographs for fans.

Lately, How I Met Your Mother hasn't exactly been shy about piling on the guest stars. Remember Britney Spears?
Well, for tonight's first episode of the new year, it's happening again, with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joining Kim Kardashian for cameos on the show.

The geekiness of the How I Met Your Mother crew never ceases to amaze me. The Christmas break gave me ample opportunity to watch old seasons of the show and I came upon one of the most fabulous, relatable scenes — relatable if you're as obsessed with TiVo as I am.
That end threat, BTW — I make that one too.

Maintaining a healthy, successful and mutually beneficial relationship with your WiFi connection can be a lot of work. In fact, it can feel a whole lot like your love life. My years of dating and battling my WiFi have taught me all about mixed signals, interference from third parties, the coveted honeymoon phase and eventually (or hopefully) that relationship pinnacle of a monogamous, working relationship that everyone can smile about.

Welcome back to my Buzz Gift Guide series for all the entertainment lovers in your life. Yesterday I entertained myself, actually, by sorting through all the great pop culture-related t-shirts I'd love to get for the men in my life, and today I'm tackling a bigger project for the guys: the best in music, books, TV, and movies of 2008.
