JLS and N-Dubz Win a Pair of MOBOs Each!

The stars were out in Glasgow last night as the MOBO Awards hit the city, with N-Dubz and heartthrobs JLS both taking two trophies home each! N-Dubz won Best UK Act and Best Album, while Marvin, Aston, Oritse and JB received Best Newcomer and Best Song for "Beat Again". Reggie Yates and Keri Hilson hosted the ceremony which included a Michael Jackson tribute introduced by LaToya Jackson and including performances by Jermaine Jackson, Shaheen Jafargholi and Diversity. Beyoncé Knowles also won two awards but was absent from the ceremony, while guests included Skins' Luke Pasqualino and Merveille Lukeba, Katie Leung, Alexandra Burke, VV Brown, Peter Andre, Kelly Rowland and many more. Diversity Win Britain's Got Talent 2009!

After a week of the most bizarre and brilliant acts performing in the live semi-finals, Britain's Got Talent finally came to a close tonight with a spectacular final show. The acts performing in the final were Aiden Davis, Hollie Steele, 2 Grand, Julian Smith, Stavros Flatley, Shaheen Jafargholi, Shaun Smith, Flawless, Susan Boyle and Diversity. The top three were dance act Diversity, singer Susan Boyle and saxophonist Julian Smith, with Diversity winning the prize of £100,000 and to perform at the Royal Variety Performance this year in front of Her Majesty the Queen. Check out their winning performance!

It has been a headline making series, with Susan Boyle making a huge impact both on this side of the Atlantic and in the US, where she got an enormous amount of attention ever since her very first audition was shown and became a YouTube sensation. I'm gearing up to watch the big finale of Britain's Got Talent, where Aiden Davis, Hollie Steele, 2 Grand, Julian Smith, Stavros Flatley, Shaheen Jafargholi, Shaun Smith, Flawless, Susan Boyle and Diversity go head to head to be crowned winner of this series! The show starts on ITV1 at 6.45pm and then there's a hour's break from 8.30pm before the winner is finally announced in the 9.30pm show! But will you be watching tonight? Let me know, and I'd love to know which of the contestants you think will win - don't forget to remind yourself of their semi-final performances.

Britain's Got Talent Finalists: Shaun Smith and Flawless

Bank Holiday Monday gave us another Britain's Got Talent semi-final, and two brand new contestants competing against Susan Boyle and Diversity in Saturday night's final. Last night we watched dancers Hot Honeyz, ventriloquist Gareth Oliver, singer Jamie Pugh, escape artist Merlin Cadogan, all round entertainer DJ Talent, drag queen Mama Trish aka Peter Coghlan, but it was 17-year-old singer Shaun Smith and awesome dance act Flawless that won the nation's votes and the judges' hearts. Flawless Demi Arrives In London With Ashton

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were out in London last night at the low key premiere of Demi's new movie Flawless. In the movie she plays a businesswoman frustrated by sexism in the 1960s opposite Michael Caine, who did not attend the premiere last night. Talking about her own experiences of getting older in Hollywood, Demi said, "It's not difficult, but different. It's not ageism, but as human beings we're captivated with what's new." With the roles she's portraying, plus gorgeous Ashton Kutcher on her arm, I'm not surprised she's coping rather well with getting a little older!

Flawless: Dressed for Success but Ultimately Forgettable

Directed by Il Postino's Michael Radford, Flawless has all the elements of a slick, old-timey heist movie, including lots of neato early-1960s costumes. However, though I was enamored with shots of Demi Moore's gorgeous charcoal-colored suits against a backdrop of crisp menswear, the film totally drops the ball in terms of developing tension around this old-fashioned diamond heist.

Flawless opens in a modern-day cafe where a young female journalist is interviewing an elderly woman (Demi Moore in old-person make-up) named Laura Quinn. Quinn describes a 1960s London where the young Quinn (Moore) is the lone businesswoman at the fictional London Diamond Co. As you'd expect, an educated, unmarried, ambitious woman at this time is not exactly a welcome addition to the team, and we quickly understand that this character is an outsider. We're then introduced to someone else on the outside looking in: Mr. Hobbs (Michael Caine), the company janitor who sees Quinn as a potential accomplice to stealing the company's diamonds.

For Quinn, being the lone female in this boys' club means being passed over for promotions and getting hit on by married men on a constant basis, and to make matters worse, she soon finds out that she's probably going to get fired. So, she's none too pleased with the London Diamond Co. Hobbes, too, has his motives for taking the company down, though they're not entirely clear which lends the plot a little mystery. Therefore, the "how" they take the diamonds isn't very exciting and the film is far more concerned with the "why."

The problem is, nothing is unraveled in a way that would lend adequate suspense to the plot. Also, there's a social conscience to the film (focusing on both global issues and women in the workplace), but it's so awkwardly woven into the story, it's hard to feel anything about these issues. For example, protest signs show up early on, indicating that the London Diamond Co. is a shady company that may deal in the blood diamond trade, but this is never really explored.

The bright spots in the film for me were charming moments from the talented Caine, and the icy-cool feel of the film. Everything from the click-clacks of Quinn's heels on the marble floor of the corporation to observing the tidy way people smoked back then is captivating to watch. In the end, though, all the predictable plot lines wrap themselves up neatly and we're asked to endure an ending so blunt in its message, it could be mistaken for a UNICEF commercial. The clumsy handling of social issues combined with a complete lack of interest around the heist itself makes the whole experience forgettable.

In fact, knowing what the filmmakers were attempting to pull off here made me realize that Spike Lee already did so, and brilliantly in Inside Man. If you're looking for a heist film with a heart, you should check out that movie instead.

Which Demi Flawless Look Is Most Fab?

The tireless Demi Moore made the rounds in NYC this week promoting her new movie Flawless and looking, well, just that. Even though she stuck with knee-length silhouettes, each look was pulled together, accessorized to perfection, and interesting in its own right. I'm particularly liking her heel choices - those nude X-strap pumps do wonders for the legs. Looking like this, it's no wonder everyone wants to know her secrets to maintaining a youthful appearance. The white Chanel coat appeals the most to me, I'm a sucker for anything and everything Lagerfeld touches. What about you?

Demi Makes a Few Flawless Appearances

Demi Moore has been showing off her stems in a variety of different dresses as she makes her way around NYC promoting her new movie Flawless. Last night Bruce (plus his PYT) and Tallulah were by her side for a screening of the film between stops at Letterman and GMA this morning. We never get tired of seeing this happy family being so supportive of one another. Demi looked stunning as usual and was of course asked about how she deals with aging and keeps herself looking so young. She revealed a few of her beauty secrets to Dave, including her newest regime of leech therapy for blood detoxification. Sounds pretty bizarre, not to mention uncomfortable, but obviously Mrs. Kutcher is doing something right.

Movie Preview: Demi Moore and Michael Caine in Flawless

Take a few notes from Mad Men and some hints from Ocean's Eleven, add Demi Moore and Michael Caine as the lead duo and you've got Flawless, a diamond heist film with an unlikely pair of criminals.

Set in 1960 London, the story follows the longtime janitor at the London Diamond Corporation (Caine) who, despite nearing retirement, decides to steal some diamonds from his employer. The person he goes to for help? A matronly Demi Moore, playing an American executive at the company who, as one of the few females, has repeatedly been passed up for promotions in favor of younger male employees. Though it's risky, she agrees to help the janitor with his heist.

Supposedly, it's a drama but the trailer makes it seem like a quirky heist comedy. I'm curious about this one, and I look forward to catching it in theaters when it opens March 28. You can check out the trailer and tell me what you think if you read more.
