Results Are In: Recast Felicity

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar T-shirt!

Last week I asked you all to chime in with ideas for the beloved JJ Abrams college drama, Felicity. Some of you expressed dismay at the thought of recasting this show - and don't worry, I too am in love with the show, and there's no actual remake in the works or anything like that. This really is just for fun! So, on with the game.

The role of Felicity is key. She's a mix of super-smart, girly, and highly neurotic, and the audience must be able to sympathize with her. I like Whip's idea for Kristen Stewart in this role, and alethe16's suggestion for Olivia Thirlby is awesome, too. Several of you suggested Emily VanCamp as well, and in my mind, you just can't go wrong with that girl.

I also really like sundew's idea for Kat Dennings to play Felicity's roommate, Meghan! I love that actress so much. As for the guys, alynn's suggestion for Taylor Kitsch to play Ben is inspired and right on in my mind. But it was the recast that included a member of the cast of Privileged, one of my favorite shows on the air right now, that won me over. Congratulations to nomiloo2000!

Recast Felicity and Win a Prize!

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

The WB (remember when it was just the WB?) has given me so many earnest dramas to revel in, and Felicity sucked me in from day one. I loved the idea of a "college drama" that portrayed higher education the way I liked to romanticize it, which is to say: full of cozy sweaters, intriguing classes, BFFs and boys. And deep thoughts. And working at coffee shops.

So, who would you cast as the main character Felicity, originally played with a subtle spunkiness by Keri Russell? Then there are the two main men in her life: dreamy Ben, who she followed to NYU, and responsible resident adviser Noel. Who would you cast as her funny Wiccan roommate Meghan, and good friend Julie? I think we should recast Felicity's other friends Elena and Sean, too. Finally, let's think of someone to play Javier, Felicity's boss at Dean & DeLuca.

What's Your Favorite JJ Abrams Series?

Tonight's premiere of Fringe got me thinking about creator/executive producer JJ Abrams and his pretty stellar track record on television.

In the past decade, Abrams has created or co-created four shows (Felicity, Alias, Lost, and now Fringe) and executive-produced two others (Six Degrees and What About Brian). Many of those shows had ratings success and/or significant buzz, and all of them (well, except maybe Six Degrees) had vocal fan followings. While we wait to see how Fringe will stack up, which is your favorite of Abrams's series so far?

Wedding Bells Are Ringing For the Desperate Housewives

The ladies of Desperate Housewives were reunited on set yesterday in LA. Marcia Cross was decked out in navy blue as prim Bree, while Eva Longoria went bright in a typical Gabi hue. Felicity Huffman chatted with her onscreen husband Doug Savant, while newcomer Drea de Matteo brought her daughter Alabama to check out the scene. Last season ended with a surprise wedding, but the bride still remains a mystery as both Teri Hatcher and Dana Delany were sporting gowns for the afternoon of filming.

Life's Anything But Desperate for Felicity and William

Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy looked like they were having a blast, showing off their beach bodies in Maui yesterday. Felicity kept it modest in her shorts and one-piece swimsuit as she and William took turns making funny faces and picking up daughters Georgia and Sofia while frolicking in the ocean. Looks like Felicity is making wonderful use of her time before she goes back to work on Desperate Housewives.

Eva Longoria Supports Her Friends and Helps Fight Cancer

Eva Longoria was a busy girl, bouncing from one event to another in LA over the weekend. On Saturday she accepted a $200,000 donation from AT&T benefiting PADRES, an organization she's involved in that helps Hispanic families fighting against cancer. Yesterday she joined her Desperate Housewives costars to support Felicity Huffman's new film, Phoebe in Wonderland. Meanwhile, things are heating up for Gaby on Wisteria Lane as we get ready to see some kissing between two of the women when the show returns.

Felicity Huffman Tries a Tri

Every once in a blue moon we'll see celebrities acting as really good role models for health. Since it doesn't happen all the time, I really enjoy sharing it with you when it does...

A real treat for you today, is seeing Felicity Huffman, participating in The Nautica Malibu Triathlon at Zuma Beach, in Malibu, CA. I am always impressed when anyone completes a triathlon, but even more impressive is that a few hours later Felicity Huffman was dressed to the nines at the 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards -- Now that's inspiring! I am totally motivated by her at this point, especially since a lot of other celebs would have thrown out the idea of doing a triathlon on such an important celebrity celebration day. You go girl!

Rupert Is Without His Cherie Amore at Cheri Premiere

Rupert Friend looked gorgeous at the UK premiere of Cheri at The Cine Lumiere in London yesterday. While Keira Knightley joined him for the film's Berlin premiere in February, Rupert was without his busy girlfriend last night, and without costar Michelle Pfeiffer, but looked happy to pose alongside his costar Felicity Jones. They were also joined by director Stephen Frears and screenplay writer Christopher Hampton. The film is released on Friday, so take a look at my May films slideshow poll and let me know whether you plan to see or skip Cheri.
