Seth MacFarlane Has Stewie Throwing a Lot of Punches For Family Guy

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has created his very own YouTube channel to beg the question: Where's My Emmy?. (First of all, Seth, this is the first time Family Guy has been nominated for best comedy series, so take it easy). Anyway, the website has been rolling out video clips showing Stewie and Brian arguing over the nominees for best comedy series, taking digs at each of the shows. The videos are basically exactly the same except for some of the dialogue particular to each nominated series, and they're so heavy on cartoon violence that they actually make me cringe more than laugh.

Is Family Guy the Best Animated Primetime Comedy on TV?

There was a bit of a gasp heard yesterday when the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced and Family Guy was listed, right alongside shows like 30 Rock and Entourage, in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. It's a triumphant moment for all animated comedies everywhere to be recognized even this much by the Emmys. But as cool as this is (and it really is cool), I have to wonder: is Family Guy the animated show most worthy of an Emmy nomination?

What do you think? Does it make sense that Family Guy is up there with other big-shot comedy series? Or do you wish a different animated series were nominated?

Buzz Gift Guide: A Bounty For Boys

Welcome back to my Buzz Gift Guide series for all the entertainment lovers in your life. On Monday I dug up some gifts for the little ones in your life and today I'm brainstorming ideas for the teenage dudes in your world who are pop culture sponges.

If I had a teenage brother I'd insist he own a complete set of Indiana Jones DVDs including (but more importantly, not limited to) this year's fourth addition to the franchise. In regard to other franchises, I've noticed that some teenage guys (and by "some" I mean my younger cousins) are always quoting Family Guy and The Simpsons and might have fun with these characters to stick up on their walls.

For the wannabe rock star in your life there's always Guitar Hero World Tour which expands the game from a lone guitar player to a full band that includes drums (it actually looks like a lot of fun!). You may know a young lad who enjoys that Shaun White snowboarding video game, so he might like listening to the pretty cool soundtrack from it, and finally, I'm sure many teens would be stoked to own Iron Man.

eBay Find of the Day: Family Guy Couch

For those of you who'll take anything that's free (you know who you are), have we got a find for you! Up for grabs and sitting in someone's yard for immediate pickup, the couch above, according to eBay has "been rained on like once or four times, and a couple bunny rabbits have tried to nibble on it, but then were like Whoa this isn't tender chutes this is a Couch, hop hoppity, hoppy-hop."

If the description isn't enough of a sale, the owner notes that this "brownish" sleeper couch looks a lot like the one in Family Guy. Lifestyles of the middle class and animated - who wouldn't want a piece of that? (For the record, this couch looks nothing like the one in Family Guy. See the pic below.) According to ComingSoon, Dawson's Creek's Kerr Smith will join the cast of the 3-D remake of My Bloody Valentine.
Rock legend Bo Diddley died today at the age of 79, writes Billboard.
ABC's Life on Mars adaptation is looking pretty troubled already, according to the LA Times, though it's the network's only new drama for the Fall.
The Hollywood Reporter announced that Bryce Dallas Howard will replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in the fourth Terminator installment.
American Idol winner David Cook's recording deal is official, and he's still setting all kinds of iTunes records, USA Today reports.

Variety reports that Family Guy will compete as a regular comedy at the Emmys - not just an animated one - for the first time.
Katharine McPhee and Wes Bentley are set to star together in the indie psychological drama The Storyteller, reports ComingSoon.

2 Girls, 1 Stewie

How could wisecracking Stewie - the see-all, hear-all, know-all toddler on Family Guy - have no knowledge of the "2 Girls, 1 Cup" Internet gross-a-thon? But he didn't. So Brian pounced on this naivety, conned the tyke into sitting in front of a computer, put a webcam to work, and hit play. Stewie's "reaction" was pretty darn adorable, of course. In a twisted sort of way.

Family Guy: The 911 Advice Line

The following may seem unlikely - but think again. A while ago, we overheard an immature 911 dispatcher crack a joke in the middle of some woman's urgent call for help. Funny? The makers of Family Guy thought so. They seized the opportunity to make a mockery of a necessary (not to mention life-saving) public service and came up with their own 911 debacle. Funny? When it happens in cartoon land, damn straight!
