I got around to Netflixing the movie Broken English this weekend, and I was really touched by the story of Nora (the always fabulous Parker Posey), a lovelorn thirtysomething living in New York City. Single and unsatisfied, the first half of the movie courts your sympathies for Nora and the loneliness she's experiencing in many parts of her life.
Frustrated by her lack of men in the beginning, she happens upon a Match.com-like dating site and gets some pretty funny — yet harsh and straightforward news: "Your selection didn't turn up anything."

The realization struck me hard about halfway through Broken English: Parker Posey isn't Party Girl anymore. She hasn't been Party Girl for years, of course, and the roles she's taken have evolved steadily from neurotic 20-somethings to neurotic 30-somethings. But in Broken English, I saw for the first time that Posey and her characters are adults now — a little less hopeful, a little more world-weary, a lot more afraid of the idea that this could be the best life gets.

Yay, how cute is the premiere of Broken English!? Sorry, sometimes I get a little excited about Parker Posey, Sofia Coppola, and Drea de Matteo -- so when they're all together it's pretty awesome. The movie they're out to celebrate looks pretty seriously precious and funny and endearing, too.

Broken English first caught my eye when it premiered at Sundance earlier this year because it stars one of the greatest film actresses out there (Parker Posey), and because it was written and directed by a lady (Zoe Cassavetes). Since then, I've just been waiting for it to come out, and this Friday the wait is over. Originally, it looked like a comedy — and was billed as such — but now, having seen the trailer I'm not so sure.

A whopping 95 percent of you think that the case of this star-faced teenager is going nowhere fast. Like you, I keep wondering, "Who could fall asleep while 56 stars were tattooed on your face?!" But Kimberley Vlaminck continues to argue that she deserves payment because she asked for only three tattoos.

A man walks on the Broken Bridge, which connected China and North Korea until the US bombed it in the Korean war. North Korea is stirring tensions as it prepares to send a satellite into orbit April 4, which in English translates to "test-firing advanced ballistic missiles capable of reaching Alaska."
The US, among other countries, is not pleased; kidnapping two US journalists has not helped matters.

HEALTH GUIDE REFERENCE FROM A.D.A.M
Highlights
Causes
- Four out of five people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) are infected with an enterovirus -- one of the viruses that cause respiratory and gastrointestinal infections -- compared with only one out of five healthy people. The virus might be a trigger for CFS, although research has not yet confirmed a cause-and-effect relationship.
Diagnosis
- According to new guidelines, symptoms that suggest a diagnosis of CFS include disabling fatigue that starts suddenly, lasts a long time, keeps coming back, and can't be explained by another condition. Other symptoms may include difficulty concentrating or sleeping, dizziness, headaches, muscle or joint pain, sore throat, and palpitations.

Here's some fun for a Friday afternoon – it's part two of my exclusive interview with the lovely Troels Hansen from Alphabeat! In part one we talked about music and touring, and in this final installment I asked him about his day to day life with his fellow Alphabeaters! Here's what he had to say:

Last year it was all Sunshine all the time when Little Miss Sunshine took home the majority of the Independent Spirit Awards, given out yearly by Film Independent. This year, the nominations are dominated by Juno, the teen pregnancy dramedy opening December 14, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and to a lesser degree I'm Not There.
Some of the nominations have me squealing with delight: Chiwetel Ejiofor nominated for Best Supporting Male for his outstanding performance in Talk to Me, Julie Delpy's 2 Days in Paris nominated for Best First Feature, and the Irish musical Once nominated for Best Foreign Film.
