Broken Embraces opens tomorrow in the US, and I'm so excited to see Penelope Cruz working again with director Pedro Almodovar. The film follows an aspiring actress who's secretly in love with a director, but is stagnating in a bad marriage. It's also chock-full of fun, colorful interior design ideas.

Penelope Cruz was busy in NYC yesterday, first making a stop by The Late Show to chat with David Letterman. She was out to discuss Broken Embraces before it opens in limited theaters this Friday, but Dave was a little more concerned with asking about her rumored engagement to Javier Bardem. She stood her ground and didn't reveal anything about her personal life — check out the video of her interview after the jump.

Penelope Cruz joined Pedro Almodovar in Rome on Saturday for a Broken Embraces photo call at the city's famous Trevi Fountain. She's back on the promotional trail after a brief detour to Bali, where she met up with Javier Bardem at the beach during one of his breaks from filming Eat, Pray, Love. Penelope has been the subject of many rumors about her personal life recently, but she's going to be all business for the next few months with her travels on behalf of her film with Pedro and the upcoming Nine and she was already at LAX again yesterday.

Broken Embraces looks like classic Pedro Almodovar: a sweeping story with a heavy dose of film noir, beautiful to look at, and a dazzling Penelope Cruz. There's a reason the director and his muse always work together — he brings out her strongest performances; she serves as a captivating leading lady. (She even got an Academy Award nomination for his film Volver.)
If the trailer for Broken Embraces is any indication, Cruz may just have critics whispering Oscar again.

Penelope Cruz had a whirlwind weekend of promoting Broken Embraces in NYC. The Vogue cover girl stepped out in a black leather jacket on Friday and a striped shirt the next afternoon for errand-running, but by Saturday evening Penlope was decked out in a sparkly white gown to be honored at a dinner hosted by Paper magazine. Her late night didn't slow her down yesterday, when she did press in a plaid dress before switching into a gray gown for a premiere with director Pedro Almodovar.

I've already given you guys a look at the comedies and romance flicks that are on my radar for Fall, but now it's time to tackle the heavier stuff: the dramas. There are definitely a few Oscar contenders in this list, so check 'em out.

Penelope Cruz was all smiles at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Broken Embraces last night. She was fresh off some time in LA where she got to see both Salma Hayek and her man Javier Bardem. Penelope looked fantastic as she promoted the film and her sexy dress was draped enough that it's not going to dissuade any baby rumors.

Stars of the big screen were in Canada last night to premiere their movies at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival. Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody and Diablo Cody came together for Jennifer's Body. Amanda changed outfits to join boyfriend Dominic Cooper for the premiere of his film An Education, which was also attended by his costars Peter Sarsgaard and Carey Mulligan.
