The costume designer for Annie Hall, Ruth Morley, essentially created androgynous dressing for women. Ok, not literally but Diane Keaton's title character shows how women can wear mens style clothes and still look stylish.
This season as chinos sneak back in to fashion Annie's style is relevant once again.

How many actresses can say that a single movie role they played spawned a whole fashion movement? Playing Annie Hall was so natural for Diane Keaton, her personal style reflects what Annie would wear today, were she real. Yes, Diane has made a few fashion faux pas, but what risk-taker hasn't?

Androgynous
Used in fashion as a "look" of a female resembling a male. Popularized by actress Diane Keaton in the 1970's movie Annie Hall, and copied as fashion apparel.
Kate Bosworth and Amanda Peet recently went androgynous at New York Fashion Week.

The annual 31 Days of Oscar festival on Turner Classic Movies is always a great way to catch up on great films I might have missed, but this year it might also teach me something new. This year's Oscar celebration — which starts Feb. 1 and goes through March 3 — is divided up like a college curriculum, with "departments" like Zoology and Communications and courses of study including Shakespeare's Tragedies, Advanced Ballet, and Contemporary Issues in Mass Media.
