Fashion is an increasingly popular TV show topic. This year we watched a few oldies but goodies - Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style - and turned on the tube for a few newbies: The Rachel Zoe Project and Stylista. Gossip Girl will always have a special place in our hearts for its eternal wardrobe appeal. Which show had your TiVo in a tizzy this year?

When one of your necklaces is featured on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style as one of Tim's Essentials, you're done - in a good way. That's just what happened to Jenifer Balducci, the San Francisco-based designer who created the necklace at left as part of her JBalducci Jewelry collection.

She started out designing high-end jewelry and custom pieces in LA, but eventually moved into her Bay Area studio, where JBalducci was born in 2003. Jenifer loves incorporating vintage and antique pieces with fine materials for her namesake line, producing a contemporary look.

The 10 Fashion Essentials, According to Tim Gunn

Tim Gunn is the prince of fashion TV. Unlike most of the other competitive reality shows out there, Tim serves as a mentor to the aspiring designers on our favorite show Project Runway. Tim is insanely smart, charming and defines "tough love" - he's like that really tough professor that ended up being your favorite one of all. With Season Four weeks away, I wanted to share Tim's 10 Fashion Essentials he shares with us via his show Tim Gunn's Guide to Style.

While I put together some Fab picks based on his list, I thought: we could do without a couple of these, and, where are the shoes and bags?! He supplies them to his disciples on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style but doesn't include them here. Alas, I put together a pretty thorough mini-wardrobe based on his recommendations. And remember, according to Tim: "It's all about owning your look. And when you do you navigate the world with great confidence. And what more could we want?"

Fab Read: Nina Garcia's Little Black Book of Style

The season premiere of "Project Runway" may still be seven weeks away (49 days to be exact), but we've got plenty of projects to keep us satisfied. There's "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style," which we're obsessed with, and Heidi Klum's Very Sexy Makeup Collection, and now there's Nina Garcia's book The Little Black Book of Style, on sale for $13 (originally $18). This book, according to Nina, is not "A book of rules. It is a book on style." Just what you would expect from the "Project Runway" judge and ELLE fashion director.

The book itself is the LBD of fashion guides - sophisticated, elegant and timeless. It offers tips on how to: be your own muse (confidence trumps beauty), invest in wardrobe staples (ballet flats, cashmere and diamonds) and "what to wear when" (just say no to sweatsuits on planes). Overall, Nina offers very sage advice for both the savvy shopper and ensembly challenged.

TV Tonight: "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style"

My favorite dry-witted silver fox, Tim Gunn, returns to TV tonight with the premiere of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" at 10 p.m. on Bravo. (If you caught the sneak-preview after "Top Chef" on Wednesday, don't worry - tonight's episode is different.) He and co-host Veronica Webb will be raiding the closets of the fashion-distressed and teaching them how to dress their bodies better. Sure, the show may usually be up Fab's alley, but Gunn's sense of humor certainly makes it buzzworthy. Tune In To Tim Gunn's "Guide to Style"

As one of the most prominent fashion TV personalities of late, it's no surprise that silver fox style expert Tim Gunn, of Project Runway fame, landed himself his own show. "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" seeks to makeover "fashion-challenged" women. With tough-love and guidance Tim and his fashion accomplice, former model Veronica Webb, lead women on an emotional journey to unearth their personal style.

Via our Fab sponsor, BravoTV, Tim wants "every woman to achieve her style zenith." I must say: I was not the only one who shed a tear at the end of the pilot - the whole cast had! It's true this makeover show is not the norm - it is thorough, sophisticated and emotional. And, educational. There are some aspects every woman should learn such as Gunn's "essential shopping list" which includes 10 basic pieces that no closet should be without - LBD, classic white shirt, blazer etc. and the importance of fit, as exhibited by some nifty computer technology. Veronica Webb Sports Blue High Tops: Love It or Hate It?

Model Veronica Webb has never played it safe. Do you remember her colorful wardrobe on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style? At a recent event in NYC, Veronica further proved her willingness to test the fashion boundaries by wearing bright blue high-top sneakers with a dress. Sneakers aren't unusual, but when paired with a gray dress and white trench, they stand out. I'm on her side, but do you think she pulls this part sporty, part chic look off?

When a celebrity dresses poorly, it's painful, but when a fashion insider does, it's inexcusable. Former model and Tim Gunn's sidekick on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style showed up to an event in NYC looking like a chicken in her yellow blouse and yellow cardigan. Last time I checked, it was a Redbook, not Reebok, event, so why the sneakers?

If I were Veronica, I would have kept the piped cardigan and that's about it. I would have selected dark wide-leg jeans, an ivory camisole, and a cool pair of flats (since she clearly wanted to be comfy).

Home Library: French General: Home Sewn

On Project Runway, co-host Tim Gunn's most dismissive comment on a garment was that it looked home sewn. Given this unfavorable recent pop culture reference, it's refreshing to see a beautiful book proudly bearing a title of the same name.

Kaari Meng, owner of the adorable Hollywood crafts and notion store French General, has extended her expertise to the book world with French General: Home Sewn ($24.95). The book takes readers through through 30 projects for the home, from scalloped tablecloths to luxurious toile shower curtains, and makes adding traditional French style to your home pattern-book easy.

With photography from Jon Zabala that will give you major home lust, the book includes six pattern pages, embroidery transfers, and color photographs, as well as illustrations. Helpful guides outline the difficulty level for each project, and the directions are simple and straightforward. Though this isn't a book the first-time sewer would want to tackle, anyone with basic curtain-making skills could easily excel at most of these projects.

If you're in the Los Angeles area, stop by French General for special events, workshops, or simply some fantastic browsing. And of course, even if you're halfway across the world, you can enjoy some of French General's goodness by browsing products online.

Jessica & Tim Make It Work

Jessica Simpson covered up her super toned arms but showed off a sexy back at the party for Tim Gunn's Guide To Style in NY last night. Not my favorite make up look on Jess, but at least she was having a blast inside the party with Natasha Bedingfield (who was Nick's first rumored flame post-Jess, remember? Obviously water under the bridge). The party was populated by some ProjRun alums like Laura Bennett, Austin Scarlett and Season 3 winner Jeffrey Sebelia (yays) out to support their on screen mentor's new project. Check out his new show tonight (plusssss the Season 4 Project Runway designers - eeee!) at 10 on Bravo! I enjoyed the preview episode last night and can't wait to see more.
