TV Tonight: V Premiere

The Visitors are coming! Tonight, V invades ABC with an updated redo of the eighties sci-fi series. I'm still somewhat confused over why the network is splitting up the season into two separate installments (the first four episodes now; the rest in March), but you can bet I'll be watching to assess if the show is worth following into Spring.

If you're not familiar with the original - or didn't take a peek at the my video of the first ten minutes - the storyline follows a group of aliens who visit Earth seeking resources in exchange for their advanced technology. But as you might guess, their "good" intentions aren't what they seem. Scott Wolf of Party to Five fame is one of the stars, along with Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost - which is perhaps why I'm already drawing up comparisons to that fan favorite. (Seriously, ABC even has a Peace Ambassador Program online that viewers can join. The Dharma Initiative, anyone?)

I doubt I'll be as addicted to this new group as I am to the Oceanic gang, but I am loving the trailer thanks to Muse's "Uprising" as its theme song. Check it out for yourself, and tell me if you'll be tuning in this evening, when you read more.

TV Tonight: The Season Finale of Greek

While college kids everywhere are about to head into that home stretch before finals, my favorite undergrads will be wrapping up another semester tonight on Greek. In the mid-season finale, we'll finally get to see Cappie and Casey as a couple again, but will it mean the end of Cappie and Evan's newfound friendship?

I admittedly was finally starting to warm up to Evan again, but the promos for tonight make it seem like he might be pulling a few jerk moves. I'm also wondering if he'll run back into Rebecca's arms after he finds out about Cappie and Casey. And does Rebecca have any leftover feelings for Cappie?

It's so hard to say good-bye, but there is one piece of good news - Greek will reportedly be back on Jan. 25, in a new time slot. So are you excited for tonight's finale?

TV Tonight: 30 Rock Season 4 Premiere

Nearly all the Fall TV shows have had their premieres, but there's one more we've all been waiting for: the fourth season premiere of 30 Rock! As we saw earlier this week in the behind-the-scenes clip from tonight's episode, Jack makes Liz go on a talent search for new stars of TGS, upsetting Tracy and Jenna. A strike ensues, and Steve Buscemi guests stars again (yay!).

I'm so happy that NBC's Thursday night comedy block is complete again (Community starts at 8, followed by Parks and Recreation and The Office).

On the other hand, 30 Rock's return does pose a bit of a problem; it goes up against Grey's Anatomy and Fringe (can you say TiVo fight?). Will you be watching?

TV Tonight: DJ AM's Gone Too Far

After the surprising death of DJ AM (Adam Goldstein), no one was sure what would happen to Gone Too Far, his MTV documentary about addiction. Would it be wrong to air it, since it was discovered that he was abusing drugs? Or is it a cautionary tale that could encourage others to seek treatment? Your feelings were mixed, although a small majority of you thought the network should continue on with the program. After receiving the blessing of his family, MTV finally premieres the eight-episode series tonight.

The show follows AM as he stages interventions with friends and relatives of young twenty-somethings using heroin and other drugs. It's a tough topic to cover - especially given the surrounding circumstances - but judging by the trailer, it looks like MTV handles it with the appropriate respect. The footage actually gave me a few goosebumps - it's eerie to see Goldstein helping others overcome the problems that led to his own demise.

TV Tonight: Entourage Season Finale and Seinfeld Reunion

We've got a big night on HBO ahead as one comedy series wraps for the season and another starts taking off. The much-anticipated Seinfeld reunion finally kicks off on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and I'm so excited that I can barely, um, curb my enthusiasm. The first two episodes were OK, but this is the moment we've all been waiting for - Jerry! Elaine! George! Kramer! Back together again!

After Curb, it's time to say good-bye to HBO's last remaining member of the Sunday night lineup of Summer. On the season finale of Entourage, Turtle and Eric handle their respective relationship problems while Lloyd may finally have to face Ari now that they're working together again. We'll also be treated to a very special guest appearance by Matt Damon. I've enjoyed most of this season, but Vince has kind of been a supporting character - will he be part of a juicy cliffhanger tonight?

TV Tonight: ABC Dramas and Showtime Hits

It's a busy night for premieres! There are a few notable hour-long dramas returning for the Fall season tonight, so make sure your DVR is ready to go.

First Showtime has Dexter's fourth season premiere, followed by Californication's third. I can't wait to see how Dexter balances his life as a family man along with his serial issues. Then, on Californication there'll be more eye candy than just David Duchovny: Ed Westwick will be guest starring tonight, as I showed you in my sneak peek.

Over on ABC, it's the return of Desperate Housewives and we'll finally figure out who Mike chose (which my look at the season may or may not have revealed).

Then, at 10, Brothers & Sisters comes back, rounding out the night of drama. Not watching Showtime or ABC? Get animated with the series premiere of The Cleveland Show and the season premieres of The Simpsons and Family Guy.

TV Tonight: Grey's Anatomy and FlashForward

Last Thursday was a bit overwhelming TV-wise, but those DVR wars are about to get even more intense with the return of one old favorite and the welcome of something new.

After a Summer of "who's staying and who's going?" rumors, Grey's Anatomy is finally back tonight with the season six premiere. Though last season ended with a much-buzzed about cliffhanger, tonight's episode may be a bit anticlimactic since we already know what fate lies ahead for George and Izzie. Based on the sneak peek photos we saw a few weeks ago, I'm expecting a major tearjerker as we watch the residents of Seattle Grace grieve for their friend and co-worker.

Not interested in pulling out the tissues tonight? I've got a backup and it's called FlashForward. If you haven't heard about this one yet, listen up - not only is it one of the most anticipated new shows of the Fall, but after viewing the pilot, it's one of my top recommendations as well. The show is already getting hyped as the "new Lost, but don't let the sci-fi genre throw you off. The first episode is deeply rooted in developing complex characters and their relationships with one another. Yes, a lot of questions are raised, but the premiere won't leave you confused (though it may leave you wanting more).

So which show are you excited for? Or will you be avoiding both and sticking with one of the many other Thursday night options?

TV Tonight: NBC's Comedy Lineup, Fringe, and More!

Let the TiVo battles begin! Thursday is going to be the most difficult night to decide what to watch this Fall, and tonight introduces the first round of contenders.

Over on NBC, Parks and Recreation kicks off the comedy lineup at 8:30 p.m. This is the second season of the show, and it's already looking funnier than the first; tonight, Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope accidentally marries two boy penguins to promote attendance at the zoo, ringing alarm bells in the conservative community.

After Parks is the sixth season premiere of The Office, where we'll get to see how well Jim and Pam can keep their baby a secret from everyone. Trying to remember all that went down in season five? Quiz yourself. It's not only returning shows on NBC tonight, though; check out the premiere of Joel McHale's college comedy Community at 9:30 p.m. I thought the pilot had its ups and downs, but you'll get to decide for yourself if it's worthy of a Season Pass on your TiVo.

Over on Fox, it's the second season premiere of Fringe; I showed you a sneak peek of the season, which centers around the repercussions of last season's alternate universe bombshell. Rounding out the night's premieres is the devilishly funny It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia at 10 p.m.

So besides the premieres, there's also a new episode of The Vampire Diaries, which scored record ratings for the CW last week. You guys seemed to agree what you did and didn't like, but will you be coming back for the second installment?

It's going to be a tough night to work out what to watch (not to mention actually having time to see it all in preparation for tomorrow's water cooler conversations). Both of my TiVo's tuners are full and ready to go - which shows are you going to be checking out tonight?

TV Tonight: The Beautiful Life

The CW continues its onslaught of new shows with pretty young things in peril, tonight with the series premiere of The Beautiful Life, produced by Ashton Kutcher.

Who's the villain in this show? The big bad world of modeling. Mischa Barton plays Sonja, the runway veteran, but with a secret that's been keeping her out of the spotlight of late. Sara Paxton (who I've enjoyed in guilty pleasures like Sydney White) is Raina, the sweet and fresh 16-year-old who can't stop her journey to the top, even if it means toppling Sonja's career.

There's plenty of male eye candy too, like Midwesterner Chris, who's plucked from a family vacation in New York to do the Zoolander thing, and High School Musical's Corbin Bleu. Elle Macpherson also pops up as the agency head who runs a tight ship to round out the roster of beauty (check out the pretty pictures).

I'm hopeful that the CW can infuse some of its magic touch into The Beautiful Life, because the only example of a model drama I can think of is the short-lived '90s Models Inc. Can it be Gossip Girl on a catwalk? To see a clip from tonight's episode, just read more.

TV Tonight: The True Blood Season Two Finale

Word on the street is that a major character will be killed off on tonight's season finale of True Blood, capping off the second season with the episode "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'". With orgies, sacrifices and a maenad (still not sure what that is), to say that this season was far bloodier and sex-filled than the first is a major understatement. Will they be able to kill Maryann and stop the terror in Bon Temps? And more importantly, how will they top themselves in season three?

If you're not getting your blood fix tonight, catch Mad Men on AMC - it looks like we'll see more about Sal and Peggy and the aftermath of Grandpa Gene.
