Off the bat, I want to mention that the Aloha State has a special quarantine law designed to protect resident people and pets from potentially serious health problems associated with the introduction and spread of rabies. All dogs and cats, regardless of age, must comply with Hawaii’s pet import requirements.

Isn't the number one rule of play dates not to bring your sick child to another family's house? I recently hosted a play group and invited six other mothers and their babies over to play and have lunch. I was happy to have them all accept the invitation, except one.

Private Practice is back and is ripped from the headlines! You've almost certainly noticed the heated debate taking place over the correlation between the immunization of children and autism (both sides have celebrity voices attached to their cause). It's highly controversial, super emotional, and extremely personal to moms especially, which means it was probably just begging for another preachy prime time drama to wade into the fray.

Last night saw the first installment of Little Dorrit hit our TV screens, with lots of characters and storylines introduced in the special one-hour episode. The series will continue in easier-to-manage half hour slots twice weekly, as the various strands start to come together. This opening scene-setter was a bit tricky to follow in places, but the different plots were held together by the overarching theme of imprisonment, both literal and metaphorical.

I saw Blindness by myself, with nothing to occupy me on the way home but a copy of Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Bad idea. This movie requires a funny friend or mindless magazine afterward to decompress.
