Buzz In: What Summer TV Shows Are You Still Watching?

It's almost Labor Day weekend, and you know what that means! No, not the last of beach weather or the beginning of a new school year - Fall TV is almost back! I'm beyond thrilled to get back into the worlds of my favorite shows, whether it's the juicy salaciousness of Gossip Girl, the dramatics of Grey's Anatomy, or the deadpan hilarity of The Office. I've missed my TV friends.

That said, there are a few Summer shows that I've become addicted to, and will certainly miss once the new TV season starts up. Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List is already over, and I'm kinda sad about it. I loved watching her ridiculous antics week after week. Mad Men is still going strong, and you know how I feel about that show because I tell you every week in my rundown posts.

I'm still totally hooked on Army Wives, and I actually think this season is better than the first. This isn't often the case with second seasons, and I gotta say Lifetime continues to impress me with this show. Finally: Swingtown. It's not necessarily high-quality television, but somewhere along the way I got hooked on this show, and I find myself hoping some network will pick up the series if CBS does not.

TV Tonight: The D-List and the A-List on Bravo

Tonight brings a double dose of Kathy Griffin to our TVs, as she first launches another season of celebrity bottom-feeding with the premiere of My Life on the D-List on Bravo, then rockets to the top of the heap to host the network's first-annual A-List Awards.

I've said it before: Griffin is a love-her or hate-her kind of comedian, and as one who trends more toward love, I'm totally looking forward to the fourth season of D-List. This season will find her opening the Oprah-inspired Kathy Griffin Leadership Academy and officiating at a wedding, among other things - and, come on, you've got to be a little curious about how that ceremony turned out.

The A-List Awards themselves, meanwhile, sound like a fantastic train-wreck - anything with a Real Housewives catfight and an absurdly rambling Lauren Hutton can't be that classy. But hey, at least it'll be a chance to see our favorite Top Chefs - and Ted Allen! - all dressed up, right? And I'm intrigued by the news of a charity fashion show from the Project Runway peeps.

The night kicks off with the Tim Gunn-hosted red carpet show at 8:30 p.m. EDT and PDT, followed by the D-List premiere and then A-List Awards. Will you be tuning in for any of it? To see a preview from Griffin's A-List opening number and a scene from the D-List premiere, just read more.

Kathy Griffin Goes on a Date!

Well, kinda. Consider this clip from her show Life on the D-List as a a teaser for her new show Straight to Hell. In this vid, she attends rocker Andrew W.K.'s performance art/motivational speaking gig. I love Andrew - he's a feminist, he's hot, he likes to party, and he looks good with blood on his face. But he draws a desperately-in-need-of-motivation crowd. That look of contempt on Kathy's face at the end, with redundant eye roll? That's the look frozen onto my face . . .

I'm convinced that most people aren't wishy-washy about Kathy Griffin: You either love her or you hate her. For the most part, I love her; sure, her antics are annoying, but they're also endearing.

While I can take or leave her stand-up, I have a soft spot for her Bravo reality show, "My Life on the D-List," which starts its new season tonight. As E! TV critic Kristin Veitch wrote, Griffin "works twice as hard to get half as far," and while she probably qualifies as at least C-list now, it's still funny and a little sad to watch her stand next to a poster advertising her show at Carnegie Hall and have passers-by say "who are you?"

This season has a bit of a twist (which I assume is tongue-in-cheek, though you never really know with her): She's given up on dating for love and is now dating for fame, asking her fans to help her choose a potential suitor. The options: Sanjaya, Prince William, Mario Lopez, K-Fed and Larry Birkhead. (I'd vote Lopez, if only because - as Griffin's site points out - one of their celebrity couple names could be "Gropez.") Kathy Griffin's Mom Manages Her "Faceplace"

I don't know if you're familiar with the hilarity that is My Life on the D List, but during the latest season, I've been more and more impressed with Kathy Griffin's online domination. Not only is she all over Twitter, but she's got a pretty active Facebook page. Or should I say "Faceplace"?

In a recent episode, Kathy "hired" her mom Maggie to manage her Facebook page. Hilarity ensues as Maggie tries to navigate the social site and find her way around her incognito Macbook Pro (I can spot you from a mile away, baby). Check out the clip above and say "awww" for all those moms and grandmas who just want to connect with you online . . . even when they aren't getting paid.

Greg Grossman, Child Caterer, Lands Reality TV Show

Precocious child chefs and foodies - a trend to hit the media circuit last year - apparently aren't over yet. Remember Greg Grossman, the 13-year-old rising caterer on the Hamptons circuit? Now 14, the kid caterer is no longer a novice to the world of publicity, and has recently landed a deal to develop his own television show.

At the National Restaurant Association Show last month, the preteen told the Chicago Tribune of his plans to help out in the kitchen at Alinea, shoot a TV series, and pen a book.

Now Grossman has reportedly signed a contract with Picture This Television, the production company behind Kathy Griffin's show, My Life on the D-List. "The moment we met Greg, we knew he was a one-of-a-kind-talent," said Bryan Scott, a partner at Picture This. "It's not every day you encounter a kid who goes to junior high school during the day and cooks with some of the world's leading chefs at night."

While I do believe that kids shouldn't rush to grow up, there's a pretty good chance that I'll tune into this show out of curiosity. Will you watch a celebrity kid chef on reality TV?

Kathy Griffin Shows Off Her Bikini Body - Impressive or Too Much?

Kathy Griffin is 48 years old and not afraid to show off what she's got. She's been filming another season of My Life on the D-List and is taking the opportunity to show off her bikini body. Kathy quit getting plastic surgery back in 2003 and has apparently been working hard on her physique. She joked to OK! magazine, "I’ve become insufferable, tormenting my friends, saying, ‘Do you know I have a banging bikini bod?’ That should be my new name: Banging Bikini Bod Griffin." So what do you think of Kathy showing off her taut bikini body - impressive or too much?

Come Story Telling With Me! The Completed Story

Thanks to everyone who pitched in on this week's Come Story Telling With Me. And now for the completed story!

"Tori, they actually asked me to be the lead in that new reality show. . . . what do you think? Should I do it? It could be my real break!!"

"I don't know, Amy. The show is called "Truth or Dare?" They said they're going to hook you up to a polygraph and ask you personal questions. And you definitely don't want your husband finding out about..."

"Yeah, you're right," I said. "Plus, everyone hates reality show contestants. If I do it, I'm resigned for the rest of my life to be a cheesy D-list celeb. But what if I look back on it years from now and regret it? I mean I suppose in the long run D-list is better than no list at all. And things aren't really that great with me and the hubby anyway. Did I tell you about the bizarre text message I found on his cell?"

Tori gave me a surprised look and said, "Um, no!" I took a sip of my green tea latte and began, "Well, it said, 'Ralphie's 8pm Wed, drinks on me. Remember the strap on.'"

"Are you crazy?"

Tori sighed. "How is the trailer park love affair going anyway?"

"You won't believe it!" I said. "I was there last night and he was with another woman! I guess I'm really not that special after all. I don't know what to do right now. My husband never has time for me because he's always on business trips, but my trailer park-hottie is now giving me the cold shoulder because he's too manly to say he's sorry." I paused before elbowing Tory, and saying, "You know what? This latte is making me nauseated. Let's go scope out some hotties at the gym!"

Tori laughed and shrugged on her coat. "You know" she said, "maybe you won't need to go on this show after all; you're whole life is a reality show!"

Apples and Wedding Bells: Steve Wozniak Gets Married!

It doesn't matter whether you would date Steve Wozniak or not; he's off the market, ladies! The Apple co-founder got married over the weekend to his fiancée - who is not, I repeat, not Kathy Griffin. That makes me pretty sad, because I loved them together on her show, My Life on the D-List.

Even though I can't add the Woz and Kathy to my list of tech giants and their loves, I'm on the lookout for a fab pic of Woz and his lucky lady. I hope she's geeky, too, and the odds are that she is, because she and Woz wed at the SegwayFesT 2008. Nerd alert!
