The 300 spoof movie Meet the Spartans took the box office crown this weekend, just barely edging out the latest Rambo for first place. Still, Rambo's numbers are encouraging to studio heads, who appear to be "thinking about reviving Rambo as a franchise." Last night I went to see a press screening of Superhero Movie, from the stable of Airplane!, The Naked Gun and the Scary Movie series.
I didn't have high hopes for this film, as spoof movies have been getting progressively worse over the past few years (Meet The Spartans anyone?), but I was actually pleasantly surprised.
It doesn't start well – in fact the first fifteen minutes are filled with bad jokes – but as I was watching I remembered that the film is certified 12A – and I think younger teens will get a good few kicks out of those minutes.

Don't be alarmed, Michelle Ryan and Sean Maguire aren't tying the knot — they're filming scenes for ITV1 romantic comedy Mr Eleven. The ex-Eastenders actors have both been on the other side of the pond lately, with Michelle leaving behind Zoe Slater to become the Bionic Woman and Sean making a name for himself in spoof movie Meet the Spartans. The pair are back in the UK filming in London and will appear together on our screens later in the year in the two-part drama, which is produced by Skins director Paul Gay.

Carmen Electra smiled for the cameras leaving TRL in Times Square yesterday. She probably felt right at home in the MTV Studios, though they've come a long way since her time on Singled Out years ago and later that ill-fated 'Til Death Do Us Part with Dave. These days, Carmen swings through when she has projects to promote like her new movie Meet the Spartans.
