Lost Episode 13: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3"

Wow. And. . . wow. The season finale of Lost was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It was totally intense and spooky and sweet and gave us some answers. My head is still reeling a little from the two full jam-packed hours.

Alright, folks, we're getting down to the wire on this season of Lost. Technically, this week's episode was "Part 1" of a three-part finale. We're getting so close to getting tons of answers I can taste it. Parts 2 and 3 will come in two weeks as part of a two-hour special. Until then, there's this week's episode to discuss.

One of my favorite parts of the last few episodes has been the merry trio of travelers we've gotten in Locke, Ben and Hurley. I'm going to miss their rapport and bantering when the season's over. Anyway, for more thoughts on this episode and to share your own, (spoilers ahead),

Lost Episode 11: "Cabin Fever"

Oh, I just love the Locke flashbacks! And this one is especially cool because it begins before Locke is even born, which I thought was awesome. There are so many clues and connections between Locke and the island that started way before he got to the island — before he even ended up in the wheelchair.

This episode of Lost also gave me flashbacks to when I used to watch that Nickelodeon show Are You Afraid of the Dark? Mostly that part with Locke carrying the lantern in the cabin. . . creepy! To talk more about this and other aspects of this week's episode (there be spoilers ahead, brotha),

Lost Episode 10: "Something Nice Back Home"

So, I watched this week's Lost and turned off the TV and. . . immediately forgot what happened in the episode. Why? Because nothing really happened in the episode! I was so excited when Hurley brought out the note and read it to Jack because at least that was somewhat intriguing. Most of the other stuff was Jack stressing out and the Jack-Kate-Sawyer and Jack-Kate-Juliet love triangles which, in my opinion, is getting tiresome.

Lost Episode 9: "The Shape of Things to Come"

Holy cow, this episode was crammed full of so much stuff. Murder! Betrayal! Smoke monster! It was like an entire movie in one hour-long episode. A busy, confusing movie. I can't say I totally enjoyed this week's Lost entirely (though I am psyched that it's back!) , but I loved the ending when Ben raised the stakes a few more notches.

This is it, folks! The last new episode of Lost until April 24. It gave us plenty to chew on and yet more crazy-making timeline twists. But is it enough to hold us over until Lost returns?

Can you tell how much I'm loving that we've gotten so much Desmond time this season (see image)? He didn't even have that many lines this week, but I just had to use this picture. Sigh.

So, with this week's episode of Lost, I started out all excited that we got another Sun episode (yay!). Then there was that part with Juliet that made me scream at the TV. Then the thing happened with the person with the chains (I mean . . . what?!). Toward the end I realized that they'd been totally messing with us, time-wise and then it ended with. . . wait for it . . . an emotional sock to the gut. I'm still reeling from this.

Lost Episode 6: "The Other Woman"

Bottom line of this episode of Lost: Sucks to be Juliet. I still don't altogether trust her, but man, she has got it bad on that island. Anyone else find her to be really pretty in this episode, too? OK, maybe I am warming to her. Just a little.

The episode wasn't as gripping as last week's with Desmond's crazy experiences, but it was more of a fill-in-the-gaps episode, rather than a blow-your-mind episode. Lost Episode 5: "The Constant"

Wow. This is one of them freaky mess-with-your-head Lost episodes, and I think it's one of the most riveting episodes I've ever seen. They're again playing with the space-time stuff, nearly to the point of causing vertigo. And I like it.

Anyone else cry a little at the end? Um, maybe more than a little? Please — tell me I'm not a total sap.

Also, we got an Iron Man trailer! That was awesome.

Lost Rundown Episode 4: "Eggtown"

First and foremost, Phasekitty totally called the twist at the end of this episode in one of her comments last week. Nicely done, Phasekitty. Nicely done.

As a general rule, I think I've had enough of Kate's stories, of which we've now had nine. Last week's episode was so gripping with Sayid's flash forwards, and I found myself not caring too much about Kate's stuff. Well, except for the parts that involved a shirtless Sawyer. Know what I think Sawyer's nickname for Sawyer would be? "Dimples." Anyway, otherwise, it was a fairly interesting episode.

Last night's episode of Lost left me reeling for many reasons. While we did get to see another member of the elusive Oceanic 6, the episode raised many new questions, and as usual, provided few answers. That said, it was definitely one of the more suspenseful episodes we've seen and had enough twists and turns to keep me entertained for an hour.

Now, I don't want to be ungrateful here. These precious few episodes of Lost are some of the only snippets of new TV we're able to get during these lean writers' strike days. But there's always too much happening on this show. There are so many characters and so much crazy stuff going on all the time that to introduce more characters into the mix is just frustrating. This week's episode of "Lost" was a bit of a snooze fest, if you ask me. I tried to be patient, assuming there would be some answers — to anything — by the end of it, but no cigar. Plus, the flashbacks were of Kate, and she is so not my favorite character. Still, there was a nice little sentimental theme of betraying the people you love (Kate's mother betrayed her, Sawyer betrayed Cassidy, Kate betrayed Jack), and the great con man Sawyer got a taste of his own medicine — by Hurley, no less!

"Lost" Episode 14: "Exposé"

Last week it was Locke, and this week, "Lost" turned our attention to Nikki and Paulo. Though I cannot begin to express my frustration at the complete disregard for last week's nuances, I have to admit that I found this episode to be intriguing, even if it didn't answer nearly as many question as it raised. Then again, that does seem to be trademark of "Lost" these days. Here are my thoughts.

In the first five minutes, we learn through flashbacks that Nikki was an actress in Sydney, guest-starring on a cheesy "Charlie's Angels"-type TV series called "Exposé." She's also dating the producer, who (ahem) appears way too old for her. For the non-flashback Nikki details (spoilers ahead, of course)

"Lost" Episode 13: "The Man From Tallahassee"

"Lost," I'm warming up to you again. I love most things Locke-related — even if they break my heart every time — and this episode did not disappoint. I hope there is some kind of peaceful redemption waiting for Locke at the end. Anyway, on to the episode...

"The Man From Tallahassee" is Not Locke
Locke is from Tustin, Calif., and received disability payments for depression, which stopped when he stopped his therapy. A man named Peter Talbott paid Locke a visit to talk about "Andrew Seward" (an alias for Anthony Cooper, Locke's father). According to Talbott, Anthony was engaged to Peter's mother, and Peter suspected that Cooper was marrying her for the money. Locke played dumb but later approached his father and told him to call off the wedding, but that's, uh, not exactly how things happened. To find out more — spoiler alert —

"Lost" Episode 12: "Par Avion"

Okay, so here's what I learned from last night's "Lost": Charlie and Claire can fit an awful lot of words on a small piece of paper. Also: It's pretty easy to just walk up to a seagull and grab it. But I digress... kind of. Here are my thoughts on last night's episode, "Par Avion."

It's Hard to Care Much About Claire
I don't know why, but it's not that interesting to know about her past. For about the millionth time, the episode opens with the opening of an eye, the way the "Lost" pilot began with Jack's eye. We learn that Claire and her mother were in a car accident, which may or may not have been Claire's fault. Claire's mother is in a vegetative state, which would be a problem financially if they didn't have a mysterious benefactor paying their bills. The person's identity, of course, is a spoiler, so to find out who it is,

"Lost" Episode 11: "Enter 77"

Okay, "Lost," now we're getting somewhere. After last week's feel-good episode with Hurley learning that he can make his own luck/hope, this week delivered some action, answers and... still more questions. Let's reflect:

In Sayid's flashbacks, his was Najeev and he was working as a chef in Paris where he met Sami, a fellow Iraqi whose wife, Amira, claims Sayid brutally tortured her. All they want is for Sayid to admit it. Slight problem: Sayid is certain he never tortured her and "cannot admit to something I did not do." Don't they all say that, Sayid?

"Lost" Episode 9: "Stranger in a Strange Land"

This week’s "Lost" was less time-bending and more hearts and stars (and naming stars with the one you "heart"). Last week’s episode sure was thought-provoking, while this week’s was like receiving a textbook that went missing last semester.

However, being promised answers to at least "three of the biggest mysteries" of the show, I expected to learn some awesome, interesting information. What I got was... Bai Ling. The fact that she's the answer to anything in this show almost makes me never want to watch it again. Almost.

Jack Likes Juliet, Which Is A Step Up From Bai Ling

I love Jack’s description of The Others after Tom innocently asks him, “What kind people do you think we are, Jack?”

Um, let’s see: The kind who would "take a pregnant woman, hang Charlie from a tree, drag people out of the jungle, kidnap children..."

Mouth breathing all the while, Tom knocks on the glass walls of Jack's cell and says, "How about I get you some stones?" I could have sworn he said, “How about I get you stoned?” That would be a very different episode, though.

"Lost" Episode 8: "Flashes Before Your Eyes"

Well, the creators of "Lost" promised a crazy new flashback device in last night's episode, one that would blow some peoples' minds but might turn other viewers away. I, for one, am intrigued. At this point, you couldn't pry me away with Eko's wooden stick if you tried.

The episode explores Desmond's experience of the island: details of what happened before and an explanation for why he has been behaving so strangely ever since he turned the key in the Hatch and it exploded (or imploded). Think About Your Life

Sawyer and Kate escape from the bad guys who were about to kill Sawyer, and Sawyer beats the guy’s head in a bit, just for good measure. Running along the shore, Kate walkie-talkies Jack and says they need a boat. Just then the walkie-talkie is shot out of her hand, and a jungle chase scene ensues. One of the men has an excellent shot of Kate; in the nick of time, Alex saves her with her slingshot.

"Lost" Season 3 Refresher

After an outrageously long hiatus, "Lost" returns tomorrow, Feb. 7, at its new time of 10 p.m. This season has seemed a little desperate at times, trying feverishly to keep viewers riveted while the many, many plotlines spread out in chaotic ways, raising more questions than can possibly be answered. It’s been sometimes boring, and other times frustrating.

Still, like any addict, I can’t give it up! If you’ve forgotten some of the things that have happened in those six fall episodes (oh, they seem so long ago!), here’s a refresher.

Kate, Sawyer and Jack are being kept in captivity by "Henry Gale," whose real name is Ben, and some of the Others. Kate and Sawyer are in outdoor cages, while Jack is in an old shark tank. Jack’s main caretaker is an Other named Juliet who looks vaguely like Jack’s ex-wife, Sarah. The Others have a thick file on Jack, documenting his entire life up until the plane crash.
The Others’ community is like a real, modern village, with homes and kitchens and well-kept lawns.
Kate and Sawyer are forced into manual labor, breaking and moving rocks. Being prisoners together, without any other original "Losties," brings Kate and Sawyer together to the point where they get it on in Sawyer’s cage, and he tells Kate he loves her.
Alex appears at the place where Kate and Sawyer are breaking rocks and demands to talk to Ben, and tells Kate "They’re going to kill your boyfriend!" There is confusion about whether this means Jack or Sawyer.

Lots of other developments, so
