Some people get bummed out if they're single on New Year's Eve and have no one to kiss at midnight. But this holiday is about way more than who you lock lips with when the ball drops. For some tips on how to enjoy New Year's as a single and fabulous woman, click here to read more.

New Year's is all about getting dressed up and celebrating the end of the year with the people you love, so try not to get too fixated on what you'll do come midnight.
If you're single, make plans with other single friends so you don't feel like the odd woman out.
I'm sure you will have a plethora of parties to choose from come Dec. 31, so go to the one where most of your friends will be.
As soon as the countdown starts, make sure to be surrounded by your friends. The best part about going to a big party is being able to celebrate with everyone, so hug and kiss all of your friends when the clock strikes midnight.
If you get lucky, or just tired, be sure to tell you're friends if you leave the party so someone knows where you are.

I hope these tips help you this New Year's. For the record, I have had my best New Year's Eves when I was single, just dancing and having fun, so I recommend doing the same! Be safe, don't drink and drive, and Happy New Year!

For those of you who are single on February 14, it can feel a lot more like Singles Awareness Day than Valentine’s Day. As if there weren’t already enough things making you feel inadequate for not being coupled off, along comes a holiday for couples. It can be disappointing to watch your roommates head out for dinner with their boyfriends or your coworker dish about the gift she thinks she’s getting, but there are ways to not only cope with your singlehood on Valentine’s Day, but enjoy it, too! Plan a dinner date with friends. You can either brave the expensive price-fixed menus that most restaurants offer (and most couples will be stuck with), or you can do something more exciting, like heading to your favorite Mexican place for tacos, guacamole, and a much-needed margarita!
Throw an anti-Valentine’s Day dinner party. Invite your single pals and ask them all to bring their favorite luscious desserts.
Embrace your lovelorn mood by renting your favorite drama or romantic comedy. Grab a bag of your favorite candy and just give into the laughter (or tears).
If you really can’t stand the thought of being at home, check online to see if bars and restaurants in your area have any single nights planned. Maybe you’ll end the night with your Valentine’s date for next year!

Try to keep in mind that your relationship will come soon enough, so enjoy your freedom while you can!

Don't Have Day Old Bread? Make It Yourself

Recently, I decided to try a recipe that called for day-old bread. I wanted to make the dish that night and headed to the grocery store hopeful that I could find a loaf of day-old bread. Although I was out of luck, I chatted with the baker about my dilemma. How could I turn new bread into stale bread? Here's what she told me to do:

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Slice the bread into 1/2-inch cubes. If your recipe calls for no crusts, remove them now.
Place the cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Do not season or coat with oil.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the bread cubes are toasted and dry, but not browned.

Use the dried out bread to make your recipe. This technique worked perfectly for me! How do you dry out bread?

What to Download: New Music Today

New DVD and music releases are the perk of Tuesdays, and today's album picks are fresh, fun, and guaranteed to liven up your iPod. I've checked out today's new music and have some advice for what's worth the download.

Don't stop partying: I'll resist doing a full-on album review for Weezer's Raditude; it's tempting, because I've always been a fan and have much to say about the band's transformation over the last 15 years. That said, if I forget about how lyrically deep Weezer used to be, I can enjoy the band for what it is now: a group of guys who write catchy, rocking party songs. I'm definitely enjoying this album way more than the last two simply for the fun factor; first single "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" is permanently stuck in my head and I don't mind. "Let It All Hang Out," with lyrics written by Jermaine Dupri, is exactly what you should blast at your next party when you're worried no one's having a good time; and continuing with the obvious theme here is "Can't Stop Partying" with Lil Wayne guest-rapping.

Ultimate TV karaoke If you're obsessed with Glee already, you may want to get your hands on the show's first soundtrack, Glee - The Music, Vol. 1. The offerings on the album are songs that have been on the season so far, plus a few from the next episode. "Don't Stop Believin'," the first song that captured the country's attention, is worth having (especially to remind you that for every awkward Mr. Schu rap, there's a gem like this). There's also the goosebump-inducing "Somebody to Love." Finally, there's one I'm especially excited about that has yet to air: Artie's slowed-down version of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself," where the oft-overlooked glee club member finally gets his own episode and electrifying solo.

America's country idol: Country cutie Carrie Underwood is back with another disc of songs, Play On, that utilize her sweet voice to tell you she's not a doormat. Her first single, "Cowboy Casanova," warns ladies of players in 10-gallon hats; this infectious tune will probably be dominating the radio the rest of the year. Another catchy tale of heartbreak you're sure to hear a lot of is "Quitter," but I prefer the more uplifting title track "Play On," which showcases Underwood's pipes rather than her sassy attitude.

Rihanna Waits Her Turn to Be a Woman of the Year

Rihanna is starting to promote her upcoming album, including posing for Glamour's Women of the Year issue. It also coincides with the debut of her new video for "Wait Your Turn" - check it out after the jump. Rihanna has remained silent about the incident with Chris Brown thus far, but she's finally opening up about what happened. She's set to share a little about the ordeal this week on GMA and 20/20. She also discussed the drama, as well as her career and childhood, in the magazine. Here's more:

On her career: "I would have never dreamed that my career would be this successful. I grew up in an average home in Barbados, and we didn’t live in the best neighborhood. But I was never aware that we were poor; my mom never made us feel that way. She made us feel anything was possible and instilled in me such confidence."
On auditioning for Jay-Z: "I thought he would be in a suit, sitting behind a desk with a cigar. But he was totally chill, wearing sneakers and a t-shirt. In a matter of weeks, the first single went to radio. Then we shot a video, and the song just took off. I was in the top 10 with huge artists who I looked up to. Jay-Z kept telling me, 'This never happens, so don’t get used to it.' I saw how special that moment was."

On getting through the past year: "I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears! My friends and family have been extremely supportive, and everyone has been there for me. Russell Kisses Katy and Talks About Romance and Kids

Russell Brand was out in LA with Katy Perry over the weekend, kissing her in her car as she dropped him off. The cute couple have been spending a lot of time together lately, and with Katy Europe-bound for the MTV EMAs this week, and Russell in London for a gig tomorrow night it looks like they'll be stealing some moments together over here too! In an interview with the Sunday Times published this weekend, Russell spoke a little about how Katy's changing his life, here's some extracts from his fascinating interview:

On how his life is changing: "I am living in a different way at the moment. Regardless of what happens in my current situation, I am unlikely to be satisfied with the calamitous promiscuity of the preceding five or six years."
On wanting to slow down and feeling broody: "I am [feeling broody], actually. It's seven years since I took drugs. I've made a film. I don't think I have to fight so much. I've grown weary of the carousel... I am more into having jaunts. It's been a while since I've done terrible things like shoplifted or threw a phone..."
On his relationships with women: "I am an only child of a single mother - it probably meant that I'm demanding and have high expectations of women. I look for salvation and redemption, to be utterly embraced.... I don't think you can find it in another human being. It's a ridiculous, romantic and tragic idea that there's someone who's going to save you, that we need our own personal Jesus. Salvation comes from within."

Get on the Ball: Bridge Single Leg Lifts

If you're looking for a challenging way to strengthen and tone your quads and hamstrings, you're going to love doing single leg lifts on a exercise ball. All at once, you'll be working the quad and hip flexors of the lifting leg, but you'll also feel an incredible burn in the hamstring and glutes of the leg remaining on the ball. That's because it takes a tremendous amount of down pressure to keep the ball in place as you do your leg lifts.

Lie on your back and place an exercise ball under your calves. Place your hands on the floor for stability as you lift your bum off the ground.
Hold the ball steady with your left leg as you lift your right leg off the ball. Then lower it towards the ball, but don't let it touch, then lift your leg again. Keep both legs straight as you repeat lifting and lower 10 to 15 times.
Then lower your right leg to the ball and do the leg lifts with your left leg. Repeat again for a total of three sets.

If this is too challenging for you, build up to the exercise by bridging on the ball. Or you can put the ball in a corner so it is considerably more stable. The exercise will still be challenging for your legs.

Buzz Interview: Sonya Walger Talks Pulling Double Duty For FlashForward and Lost

I've been hooked on FlashForward since I saw the pilot back at the TCA, thanks to the intriguing premise and action-packed episodes. Earlier this week I had the opportunity to chat with Sonya Walger, who stars as Olivia and also plays Penny on Lost. While she made sure not to reveal any spoilers, Sonya talked about her character, the comparisons between shows, and more.

On how her friends and family have responded to the show: They've been completely thrilled. It was fun, I was in London just last week. I had a few days off so nipped home to see my mom. It's so fun to have the show airing simultaneously there, in a real time experience. Everyone's excited about it. It's really exciting.
On having a new TV family: It's lovely. It's lovely to have a place to belong to and come to every week. The scripts are so fun to get. They're really exciting. Week after week it's just a treat to come home and find them on your doorstep.
On her hopes for Olivia and Mark's relationship: You hope for Olivia's sake and for their little girl's sake that they can stay together; but at the same time I wouldn't wish Olivia to stay in a relationship that was miserable and making her and the three of them unhappy. You just want the best for your character, really.

Would she take an opportunity to see a flashforward of her own? No, I'd hate it. I would turn it down, I wouldn't want anything to do with it.
On the comparisons between Lost and FlashForward: I feel the comparisons are inevitable, to be honest. Any time you've got a big show with an ensemble cast and they're all reacting to the same big event, then of course you're going to get Lost comparisons - particularly when you've got two cast members who are from the old show. I think and hope that quite quickly the comparisons will turn off. I think the shows are radically different; I think the way they unfold, the story lines, the scope of them, there's not that deep embedded mythology of Lost, we don't have that. We have big payoffs that happen in every single episode so you're not forced to wait for six seasons to find out what's going on. There are reveals that happen constantly. I think FlashForward will prove a much less daunting show to join. I think that one of the things about Lost is that the last season is starting and I can't imagine viewers will want to be joining it now when they've never seen it before, whereas I think that FlashForward is much more accessible. If you haven't seen the first five episodes you could easily join in and know exactly what's going on.
Other favorite shows of the Fall season?: I love Modern Family, I think it's a really smart, clever show.
On her Halloween plans: I'm going to be on a plane flying to Melbourne. So short of spooking the pilot, I don't have any plans.
