Movie Preview: The House Bunny With Anna Faris

It's like Legally Blonde meets The Hottie and the Nottie, with a dash of The Girls Next Door tossed in. The House Bunny follows Anna Faris as Shelley, a Playboy bunny who finds herself "too old" to be a bunny anymore. Thrown out of Hef's mansion, she wanders onto a college campus where she discovers a sorority of "nerdy girls" and she becomes their housemother. From the trailer, it looks like she teaches them how to put on makeup and short skirts (the keys to success, apparently?) though by the end of the trailer Shelley herself seems to have learned about the benefits of being a "smart girl."

Though aspects of this movie make me cringe already, I found myself laughing out loud a few times at the trailer, despite Faris' weirdly slurry speech (anyone else notice this?). The House Bunny opens August 22. To check out the trailer, read more.

The House Bunny: See It or Skip It?

From Legally Blonde's writers comes The House Bunny, out in the UK today following its summer release in the US.

The film focuses on Shelley (Anna Faris), a Playboy bunny who's thrown out of Hef's mansion for being too old. Finding herself on a university campus, she becomes housemother to a sorority of "nerds". Cue lots of lessons in makeup and fashion, and the requisite discovery that it's not all about looks.

My girl Buzz found the film disappointing, but did think Anna Faris was endearingly goofy. Check out the trailer below and let me know your thoughts: will you see it, or do you think you'll skip it?

There are not enough redheads in Hollywood. There, I said it. Newcomer Emma Stone is taking every carpet by storm in her youthful, experimental getups. And I love her for it. Out and about promoting The House Bunny, she donned favorites like Phillip Lim and Abaete, but also smaller designers. She likes to show leg, but manages to mix it up with accessories and silhouettes, and, most notably, amazing shoes. Patent, zippered, bootied, and colored, she's a girl after my own heart. Alas, which stellar look is the most Fab?

The Moore-Willis Family Puts On Its Bunny Ears

It was a family affair for Rumer Willis at The House Bunny premiere at Mann Village Theater in LA last night. Ashton, Bruce, Demi and the rest of the gang came out to support her new movie, proving once again how close the whole family is. Her parents weren't the only ones with dates on their arms, Rumer brought her boyfriend Micah Alberti to pose for photos and see the film. Also out on the pink carpet, Anna Faris looked great in her white gown, Emmanuelle Chriqui was stunning as always, and the man himself Hugh Hefner brought his girls to watch the film. It was quite the star-studded carpet last night, but do you think you'll check out the movie?

PopUK's New Release Roundup!

It's time to let you know all the new releases that I recommend this week! First up I have a couple of DVDs for you - Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla came out yesterday and I very much enjoyed this fun-filled crime caper. It has some amusing performances in it, especially from Gerard Butler and face to watch Tom Hardy.

I also recommend The House Bunny for some laugh out loud moments, and I have to admit I was very skeptical of it before I watched it. Anna Faris makes the Playboy bunny of the title likeable and amusing - it's a comedy in the same vein as Legally Blonde - though Colin Hanks is an uninspiring love interest for her. There's amusing support from the sorority girls she takes under her wing, including Kat Dennings, Emma Stone, American Idol's Katharine McPhee and Rumer Willis.

I'll be telling you all about The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button in my review on Friday, but films also worth checking out at the cinema this weekend include animated movie Bolt, a cavalcade of stars including Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore in He's Just Not That Into You, or if you fancy something a little more serious you could go and see Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Doubt.

Welsh songstress Jem has her album Down To Earth available to download this week, and if you're looking for something a little different or what to discover some new artists, then check out Rough Trade's Counter Culture 2008 which includes tracks from Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes, as well as bands you might not have heard of. If you want some new singles to download, then Coldplay's "Life In Technicolour II" is released this week, as is Daniel Merriweather's "Change" and the awesome Of Montreal's uplifting "An Eluardian Instance".

Sugar Bits - Madonna and Guy Ritchie Announce Divorce

Update: Madonna's rep, Liz Rosenberg, confirms that Madonna and Guy Ritchie will divorce after seven and a half years of marriage. The couple requests that the public respect their privacy. They have not agreed on a settlement.

The Sun is claiming a world exclusive that Madonna and Guy Ritchie are to divorce. A statement confirming their marriage is over has reportedly been prepared and is set to be released imminently, because they "can’t bear to live with the pretence any longer". A spokeswoman for Madonna declined to comment last night. - The Sun
Mel C. has reportedly asked Victoria Beckham to plan her wedding, and Victoria has thrown herself in to the role, already making inquiries at St Peters Church in Liverpool and asking Roberto Cavalli to design the dress. - Daily Star
First-time author Aravind Adiga won the Man Booker Prize last night with his novel The White Tiger, which was praised by the judges for presenting the "dark side of India" and likened to Shakespeare's Macbeth "with a delicious twist". - The Independent
Coldplay has received four nominations for the 2008 American Music Awards, while Alicia Keys leads the pack with five nods. The AMAs will take place in LA on 23 November with Jimmy Kimmel as host. - MTV
Following reports that Jeff Stelling would be offered the role of hosting Countdown, it is now reported that Alexander Armstrong is also in the running for the job. - The Telegraph

If you're in favor of hares in your house, even outside of the Easter season, then you'll want to check out my favorite bunny home accents. One of my absolute favorite bunny finds is the Moooi Rabbit Lamp ($539). These ridiculous rabbits look as if they're trying to disguise themselves with their matching lampshades. Add a few of these lamps to your home, and you won't be able to stop smiling.

How-To: Emma Stone's Flawless Face

Fab knows all about Emma Stone's wow factor. And you may remember the up and coming actress from the delightfully crass Superbad. Now, she's starring in two just-about-to-be-released wacky films: The Rocker and The House Bunny, both of which the inner party-girl in me is compelled to see.

At a special screening of The House Bunny, Stone looked gorgeous with a peachy-pink glow on her cheeks and lips. Those green eyes sparkled with smoky blue shadows, and that complexion - completely flawless. To get this look, read more.

FACE: Start by applying a medium coverage matte, yet radiant foundation like MAC's Select SPF 15 ($26).
CHEEKS: With a brush, hit the apples of your cheeks with Smashbox's Blush Rush in Heartbreak ($24), a soft dusty rose. I also like softly sweeping a bit of color around the hair and jawlines to create a cohesive look.
EYES: For the boldest part of Emma's look, go with a nice creamy black eye liner on the top and bottom lash lines. I like Stila's Kajal Eye Liner in Onyx ($16.50). To achieve her multihued smoky eye, try an eyeshadow kit like Too Faced's Smoky Eye Palette ($32). Start by sweeping the Cream shade from the lash line to the brow to create a base. Next, apply Midnight (dark violet blue) to your lids. Smudge your black liner with Midnight on top and bottom lash lines. Use a little Wicked Green (dark emerald) on just the outer contours of your lids for depth and drama. Apply Sugar Cookie (peach-champagne shimmer) on the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes for a soft glow. Finish with a true black thickening mascara.
LIPS: Finish with a sheer low-shine cream lipstick like Urban Decay's Lipstick in Jailbait ($22).

It's a Dog's World: Fun at the 2009 World's Ugliest Dog Contest

Variety is the spice of life, and thankfully we got a taste at this year's World's Ugliest Dog Contest in Petaluma. The winner wasn't a Chinese Crested (like it has been in past contests), but a Boxer mix named Pabst who walked away with the blue ribbon and stole the hearts of the crowd with his huge underbite. But for me, the World's Ugliest Dog Contest wouldn't be complete without a stroll through the barns and coops of the other furry (and non-furry) animals that take their place at the fair. My favorite this year were the bunnies, and I secretly had my eye on a few to sneak home in my bag!
