Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Working on American Road Trip Movie

Oh, how I love these guys! Anyone who has seen Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz is probably familiar with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's hilarious, satiric ways, and fans of the duo will be happy to know that they're back at work on another comedy. This time the premise and location are both distinctly American. Pegg wouldn't reveal too much to MTV Movies Blog, but he did say this: "It's called Paul and it’s a road movie about two British geeks in America."

Also, as a twist on their usual relationship in their films, Pegg won't be playing the one ranking on Frost's character all the time. According to Pegg, "I'm the bitch in this one. This time Simon’s the bitch!"

I love these guys. I was so looking forward to seeing Pegg soon in Run, Fat Boy, Run alongside Hank Azaria, but apparently the film's release date has been moved from October to March. One website has a supposed quote from Pegg stating that the weekend in October when Fat Boy was supposed to open proved too risky with Steve Carell's Dan in Real Life also coming out. I'm so bummed by this news! I was looking forward to watching that fat boy run next month.

What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue.

300
This movie won't be as captivating on DVD as it was on the big screen, but with the DVD, you'll get the inside scoop on one of 2007's most unusual films. An adaptation of Frank Miller's comic, 300 isn't going to win any screen-writing Oscars - we hope - for its portrayal of the lopsided Battle of Thermopylae. But it does break serious ground in terms of visual effects.

Be sure to check out some of the special features, like a commentary by director Zack Snyder, a gallery of production stills, and several featurettes including "The 300: Fact or Fiction?" in which "historians, authors, and filmmakers reveal how much of the film was based on fact."

Hot Fuzz
I was fortunate enough to see Hot Fuzz in the theater and it is one hilarious movie. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's follow up to their zombie movie spoof Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz is a parody of classic buddy cop movies. Pegg plays a London police officer who is so good at his job that his colleagues resent him, so he's shipped off to the virtually crime-free village of Sandford and paired with a bumbling partner (Nick Frost). Not surprisingly, it turns out there might be more afoot in Sandford then expected. The movie also co-stars a roster of talented Brits, including Bill Nighy and Steve Coogan. The special features include a gag reel that I cannot wait to check out. You can watch the trailer for Hot Fuzz here.

Lonely Hearts
I posted the trailer for this movie back when it was coming out in theaters, and then I didn't hear much about it again, so now's the perfect time to check it out on DVD. Starring Salma Hayek, John Travolta, and Jared Leto, the highly stylized Lonely Hearts is based on the true story of two homicide detectives (played by Travolta and James Gandolfini) trying to track down the "Lonely Hearts Killers": a couple (played by Hayek and Leto) who lure their victims using personal ads. As an interesting tidbit, director Todd Robinson is actually the grandson of the real detective on the case.

Disturbia Wins at the Box Office Yet Again

For the third week in a row, Disturbia has prevailed at the box office, though whether this is something to write home about is debatable since the competition wasn't exactly fierce. Overall, box office sales were way down this weekend, with Disturbia drawing in just $9 million - and that's the No. 1 film.

Coming in second place was the latest thriller The Invisible, while Nicolas Cage and his scraggly hair brought in just $7.2 million for the "action-thriller" Next. Following Next was Fracture, Blades of Glory, Meet the Robinsons and Hot Fuzz, each bringing in unremarkable sales.

Of course, this is just the end of April. Studios should expect to see a huge difference when they break out the summer big guns, which should start this weekend when Spider-Man 3 opens nationwide. Goodbye Shia LaBeouf, hello Spidey and the gang.

Movie Preview: Hot Fuzz

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never seen Shaun of the Dead, because after merely watching the trailer for Hot Fuzz, I'm ready to declare filmmakers Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright two of Britain's most valuable exports. In their new comedy, which hits theaters this Friday, April 20, Wright (who also directed the best fake trailer in Grindhouse) and Pegg are lampooning an oft-ridiculed world - small-town cops - with wholly original humor.

Pegg plays a London police officer who is so good at his job that his colleagues resent him, so he's shipped off to the virtually crime-free village of Sandford and paired with a bumbling partner (Nick Frost). Not surprisingly, it turns out there might be more afoot in Sandford then expected. The movie also co-stars a roster of talented Brits, including Bill Nighy and Steve Coogan. New Product Alert: Bliss/Philips Bikini Perfect

Can I just say something? I resent the societal expectation that I have to rid myself of pubic hair. I spent enough pre-pubescent time worrying that I'd never develop, and now that I'm an adult, I'm supposed to lose my lady forest completely? Not that there's anything wrong with choosing a Brazilian; I just don't want to feel like a leper if I don't want to visit Rio.

With all of that said, I'd rather not look like I'm sportin' a merkin at the pool, so I choose to do a little bikini-area trimming. As far as at-home waxing goes, Completely Bare's kit is tops. But when Bliss and Philips teamed up to create Bikini Perfect ($59.99), I was intrigued. The hair removal system comes with a trimmer attachment, two combs, a micro trimmer for eyebrow shaping, a micro shaver, an epilator, and Bliss samples.

First, the good. The device is solidly constructed, so it seems like it will last a long time. The epilator, while hardly original, is extremely effective at yanking out stray hairs. (Yes, it hurts.) And I like the fact that you can use this waterproof gadget in the shower if you choose. Best of all, I can de-fuzz without having to deal with hot, messy wax.

Unfortunately, the shaver attachment doesn't get as close to my skin as a regular razor does. It definitely cuts down on the fuzz, but I had to go over my skin a few times, and even then I still had a few sprouts of miniscule stubble. And the eyebrow attachment is completely unnecessary; unless your beauty icon is Vanilla Ice, stay away from this risky thing.

Should you buy it? Yes, if you're looking for a way to touch up in between bikini waxes, the epilator is just as effective. If you'd only use this to shave, it's a little more iffy. In general, though, if you're in the market for a bikini-line trimmer, Bikini Perfect does the job well for a decent price.

Brit Ladies In LA Laugh It Up At Comedy Awards

These British women are doing us proud in Hollywood right now, all looking stunning at the BAFTA British Comedy Awards in LA yesterday, as part of the BritWeek 2008 celebrations. Cat Deeley continued her one-shouldered dress trend with a red number, looking gorgeous, although I think I prefer her white one. Lucy Davis looked stunning in a long black dress, Joss Stone went with a green number, and nominee Ashley Jensen wore a striking shimmery blue number.

Her fellow nominees Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright showed up to support their film Hot Fuzz, and funnyman Billy Connolly also showed up in some fetching tartan trousers!
