Keira Knightley to Tread the Boards in West End

Keira Knightley is set to make her West End debut in December. She will play an American film star opposite fellow Brit Damian Lewis in Moliere's The Misanthrope, which is due to open at the Comedy Theatre on 17 December and run until 13 March. Keira has already started preparing for the role ahead of official rehearsals next month, and has reportedly been working with a voice coach and taking singing lessons to help with projection.

Set in modern-day London (rather than the original 17th century Paris), the play will be directed by Thea Sharrock, who directed Daniel Radcliffe in Equus. With Jude Law and Sienna Miller currently on Broadway, and Daniel Radcliffe heading that way too, I'm really excited that at least one of our major stars will be on stage in London, what about you?

Emma, Rupert and Daniel Get Rain Soaked At Potter Premiere

The British weather pulled out all the stops for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince premiere in London last night, soaking stars Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe as they took their time meeting with their many fans and signing autographs outside. Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Tom Felton, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Michael Gambon and Helena Bonham-Carter were among the cast that attended the huge Leicester Square event last night! Daniel has said he doesn't understand why girls scream for him, explaining:

"If girls like me, that's great. I go to Japan and they all scream and it all goes mad, but that's a different type of me - that's the red carpet me and that's who a lot of people seem to be attracted to, but the me that sits in a darkened room for eight hours a day watching the cricket with a big bowl of pasta in my socks and my underwear is not nearly so appealing to women."

Emma Watson looked super-stylish despite a wardrobe malfunction in her vintage Ossie Clarke dress, and all the stars wore their white ribbons to honour murdered castmate Rob Knox. Guests included Gordon Ramsay, Tom Fletcher, Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof, Myleene Klass, Guy Ritchie, Dermot O'Leary and many others. Chris Is Back From Beyond The Rave

Skins star Joe Dempsie proved that, unlike his character Chris, he's very much alive and well at last night's launch for brand new Hammer Horror film Beyond The Rave. The film is being shown as a series of webisodes on myspace, before being released on DVD later this year. Other attendees to the Shoreditch venue last night included familiar faces Damian Lewis, Jaime Winstone, Sadie Frost, Jamie Dornan and Suggs.

The plot is this: an English soldier (Dornan) must find and win back his girlfriend from the clutches of a mysterious group of hardcore ravers before he flies to Iraq in the morning. It certainly sounds like Hammer Horror for the Skins generation!

These Happy Couples Are No Fools

The cast of Flashbacks of a Fool brought their loved ones to the premiere in London's Leicester Square last night. Daniel Craig and Satsuki Mitchell looked super-stylish, as did Daniel's co-star Helen McCrory and hubby Damian Lewis. In fact happy couples were everywhere, from Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn to Noel Gallagher and Sara MacDonald (keep on smiling Noel). Even James Cracknell didn't let the marathon stop him from enjoying an evening out with his wife - respect! Alfie Allen shared lots of sibling love with Lily, who had changed out of her comfy clothes to give her little bro some media training, as she dragged him away from the sidelines. Our girl Fab UK wants to know what you think of Lily's outfit: do you love it or hate it?

Gwyneth Helps Prince Charles Celebrate Success

Kevin Spacey and Gwyneth Paltrow (with her new hair and YSL dress) were amongst the stars who came out for The Prince's Trust and RBS Celebrate Success Awards at London's Leicester Square yesterday. While his eldest son enjoyed the snow, Prince Charles smiled for the cameras as he arrived at the awards, which honour young people who've changed their lives and recognise those who've played a key role in supporting the work of the Trust. Talking to The Sun, Prince Charles said:

"Above all else, what my Trust and I have been trying to do for 32 years is assist young people to acquire self-esteem and self-confidence".

Brits from film, TV, theatre and news joined Prince Charles at the awards: Damian Lewis larked about on the red carpet while Kate Adie smiled wide and Lee Mead (with his lovely curls) turned up without Denise Van Outen on his arm. Fashion props to Richard E. Grant, whose blue scarf brought out his lovely eyes!

Pilot Watch: "Life"

The networks have announced their fall schedules, but which of the series will actually be worth watching? Throughout the summer, as I watch the pilots, I'll be posting my first impressions. A lot can change before a show makes it to air, so these aren't comprehensive reviews, just quick thoughts on how the shows look now. Today's installment: NBCs "Life."

What's it about? Charlie Crewes, a police officer who was wrongfully convicted of murder and served 12 years of a life sentence, returns to the force after being freed, at least in part because he wants to figure out who made him take the fall.

Who's in it? Damian Lewis, Sarah Shahi, Adam Arkin

The good: Maybe it's because I went to school at Northwestern, home of the Center on Wrongful Convictions, but I think the topic of what the wrongfully convicted do when they re-enter normal life is fascinating fodder for a show. The pilot at least made me interested to find out how prison shaped Crewes and why he decided to return to the force despite a huge settlement that would keep him wealthy for years.

The bad: There's a whole lot of Dr. Gregory House in Crewes, but the writers haven't figured out how to draw the line between "endearingly quirky" and "downright annoying." I mostly found him grating in the pilot - not on account of Lewis, who gives a good performance, but because of the lines and stories he's given. I'm not sure why he couldn't have just been a freed cop instead of a freed cop who happens to also be a tortured, oddball genius.

Will I watch? I can't see this winning a permanent spot on my viewing schedule. Then again, just like "Journeyman," the final scene was good - if more compelling than anything else in the episode.

NBC Closes Out the TCA Fun

The TCAs wrapped up on Monday with a few fabulous shows from NBC. Zachary Levi and Josh Schwartz revealed fun news about Nicole Richie's role on Chuck, including her very exciting shower fight scene. We also heard from Brooke Shields who's thrilled to get back to work on Lipstick Jungle, especially with Mary Tyler Moore playing her mom. Later in the day we checked in with the ladies of Kath and Kim. Hilarious Selma Blair and Molly Shannon joked about playing a mother-daughter pair being so close in age in real life, saying that they tried to get Dakota Fanning, but the next best was Selma. We can't wait to watch all these shows, both new and old in the Fall and until then, head over to Buzz for more news on the day.

On A Day of Highs and Lows, Sundances On

While the afternoon took a noticeably somber turn as the news of Heath Ledger's tragic death spread over snowy Park City, the morning was for celebrating as Oscar nomination news came to Sundance. While a lot of the celebrities left with the end of MLK day weekend, there was still swag to be scored for some of them. I was lucky enough to stop by the Pure & Natural Celebrity Eco-Retreat and Iconix "Gift Giving For A Cause" Suite benefiting Save the Children to see all the goodies the celebrities have been snatching up as souvenirs. I also ducked into the Wireimage portrait studio thanks to our friends over there and while I didn't get any big celebrity sightings, I was right on the trail of so many of them who have stopped through to pose.

Mischa and Audrina were definitely enjoying the goodies while Diddy was more about pimping his vodka than taking home free stuff. Luke Wilson was looking scruffy, but hopefully his movie luck has turned since BuzzSugar had only good things to say about his movie at the festival, Henry Poole is Here. I'm headed home to slightly warmer SF tonight, but there's a lot more Sundance to come!

NBC Comedy-ers Answer The Really Tough Questions

As you know Buzz is covering the Summer TCAs to report the latest network news as they promote their fall programming. Pop came along for the NBC ride and boy am I glad to be here. The network announced lots of great news (Welcome back Jerry Seinfeld), launching more online content a la Heroes and live chatting during your favorite shows. Here are some highlights so far from a Pop point of view:

Andy Samberg totally dodging the dating Natalie Portman question with this response: "pretty much every host that comes to the show, we all sleep with, so it's written into the contract when you get there --- so by those standards, yes"
Scrubs Exec-Producer, Bill Lawrence joking that the highly anticipated remake of Fletch won't happen since "Neither Zach or John would star in it, so i was screwed." He then shifted back the topic to TV but we're still holding out for that movie to make it on the big screen.
Tina Fey admitting that of NBC's two backstage life at a sketch comedy series, she had no doubt hers would be the one to last. Studio 60 is gone but Tina said she knew "100 percent" that her show would survive. She said, "I have a nasty SNL competitive streak in me, so I'm going to say 150 percent."
Adorable cardigan wearing John Krasinski feeling a blow to the ego as exec producer Greg Daniels admits that the Pam and Jim story line is a "B plot." At that point, John joked and stood up and said, "good night" to the crowd but lucky for us he did not actually leave.
Other observations: Jason Lee was practically mute (boo); Tina Fey is getting prettier everyday; Zach Braff is cuter in person while Andy Samberg needs a new hoodie.
