Late Night Returns but the Globes Might Be a No Go

Conan O'Brien was almost unrecognizable sporting his strike beard in NYC yesterday. We've been missing Conan and our other late-night hosts, but luckily they'll be able to shave those faces for the cameras once again very soon. Both Conan and Jay Leno will be back on January 2, fending for themselves assuming that their writing teams will still be on strike. David Letterman may also be back if his writers accept an interim agreement through his independent production company.

While it seems like the strike may still be far from over, we're glad to see that at least some shows are coming back on the air especially since it seems as if the award shows are not getting the blessing from the writers' union. Apparently, they denied the requests to allow writers for the Oscars and Golden Globes. There is also talk of picket lines, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that they will work something out prior to the big shows. It's one of the gifts we are wishing for this holiday season.

WGA Gets Some Help From Heroes

The stars of Heroes came out today in support of their writers in LA. Masi Oka, Kristen Bell and Ali Larter were a few of the celebs that showed the love for the WGA at the picket lines. Hayden wasn't around, but maybe she's resting up for announcing the Golden Globe nominees tomorrow morning. Hopefully, the WGA won't picket the show and our heroes will still be walking the red carpet at the awards next month. The show is one of the few that actually had a mid-season finale, but we still can't wait for the next chapter when, hopefully, the writers come back with bigger and better plot lines than ever.

One Thing We're Not Thankful For Is the Strike

The WGA strike pressed on in LA yesterday, bringing out actors like Masi Oka, Ali Larter, and Sandra Oh who headed to the picket lines in support of their writers. Alicia Keys lightened things up a bit by performing her new single, but we all know how serious the issue is for everyone involved. Yesterday marks the last day of picketing before Thanksgiving, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that a compromise can be reached soon. We're already feeling the effects of losing some of our favorite shows so hopefully the writers and producers can make some headway in their scheduled talks next week.

More Actors Come Out to Join the Picket Lines

The striking Writers Guild members were joined on the picket line by veteran and current TV as well as movie stars yesterday. While most of the focus thus far has been the effect of the strike on our television, the movie writers are out there too. Jack Black and Ben Stiller were there holding down the film actor front. Can you handle Ben's Blue Steel? Some of our favorite Friends Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry were on the front lines with adorable Mila Kunis and some of the people whose show may be most affected by the strike, Scrubs' Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Meanwhile, Jay Leno kept it nonchalant showing up on his motorcycle - he's been put in a particularly hard position this week with his show, leaving NBC to think about other options. Into week two with no sign of this strike ending anytime soon, I just hope that the writers keep getting support for as long as they are out there on the line.

Betty and Company Join the Strike

America Ferrera, Becki Newton, and Rebecca Romijn were just a few of the Ugly Betty cast members who grabbed signs and rallied around their writers on the picket lines yesterday. The strike can't be easy on any of the parties involved, but we bet the writers were happy to get lots of support. As for the show, we were loving Posh's super short guest spot last night. Hopefully, the writers and producers will get this whole thing settled soon because we don't know how we'll deal with no next episode if it ends with a cliffhanger like last night.

Housewives Love Their Show, and Their Writers

When production on Desperate Housewives shut down indefinitely yesterday afternoon, the 'wives themselves took to the picket lines, self-promoting t-shirts front and center. Hopefully, the actors and actresses who are out there on the lines for now will still support their scribes days and weeks after they stop filming. And here's to this scene in particular being more than just a photo-op for Eva, Marcia and Nicollette. Methinks we'll be seeing even more of these three out on the town now that Wisteria Lane has entered involuntary hiatus.

Seattle Grace Joins The Writers' Strike

Pretty soon, we won't be able to look to Seattle Grace for our weekly fix of ludicrous and heart-wrenching medical drama. As of next week, these actors here will no longer be reporting for duty in the OR. Grey's Anatomy stars took a break from filming their last scripted episode to stand with the picketers outside their set yesterday afternoon. Check out Buzz for some video of Sandra Oh talking about the strike and updates as to what is going on with some other of our favorite shows. Maybe Bill Clinton can step in and mediate? I mean, he's offering. Just saying.

Desperate Housewives Shuts Down for Strike

Eva Longoria showed sympathy for the Writers Guild of America strikers yesterday afternoon with pizza while Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy picked up signs and joined the crowd outside the Desperate Housewives set. DH will officially shut down production tomorrow, being the first show to do so. Buzz is keeping us up to date on how the strike will affect our favorite shows - including the news that 24 is delayed indefinitely and The Office only has two more episodes before it goes into reruns. I can only imagine how hard it is for the writers, who are sacrificing paychecks that pale in comparison to the stars on their shows. It's a little bit heartening that actors like Eva are supporting the people who are there to feed her the amazing plot lines she and her colleagues get to work with. For everyone's sake, hopefully the two sides are able to negotiate a better deal soon.
