Buzz In: Who Should Play Wonder Woman?

Not that a solid plan for a Wonder Woman movie has been set in motion yet (Joss Whedon was allegedly involved and then dropped out of the project, leaving people to wonder who else should direct it -any thoughts?), but people keep buzzing about who would play the strong, lovely superhero if a movie about her ever finally shapes up. Some have mentioned Jessica Biel and Megan Fox, while Moviefone's extensive list of possibilities goes so far as to include Britney Spears and Shannon Elizabeth as options (their list also includes some ladies I think come closer to true possibilities, like Kate Beckinsale).

The latest actress to toss her hat in the ring? Jennifer Love Hewitt, who apparently longs to be in an action film and recently said, "I want them to make the movie of Wonder Woman and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad, I think it'd be really fun."

The DC Comics Amazonian princess was originally created "as a distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to 'a world torn by the hatred of men.'" What present-day actress do you think could take on this character?

Source

Rewind: This Week's Buzz

Hooray for "Ugly Betty"'s Becki Newton! Check out my interview with the thoughtful and funny lady. Also, did you notice how funny Tyler Labine was in "Reaper" this week? I interviewed him, too!

Welcome back, fall TV! Want to weigh in on what you thought of this week's wave of season premieres? Check out my rundowns of this week's "Heroes," "House," "Private Practice," "Reaper," "The Office," "Grey's Anatomy," "Chuck" and "Ugly Betty." If you watched closely this week and think you know your stuff, take my TV quiz!

Speaking of fall, get in the mood for the chilly season with Matt Pond PA's distinctly autumnal album Last Light. I think it's pretty darn great.

Tell me: in this hypothetical situation, who would you cast in a modern remake of Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

<a href="/What do you think about songs in commercials, like Feist's "1 2 3 4" in the iPod commercial? Do they help expose you to new music, or are they simply annoying?

Natalie Portman and Jason Schwartzman star in Hotel Chevalier, Wes Anderson's short film that is now available for free on iTunes.

What's your favorite one-liner from TV or movies? I had a hard time choosing between "I'll have what she's having" (When Harry Met Sally) and "May the Force be with you" (Star Wars).

Nothing's completely final yet, but Variety is reporting that Jessica Biel is in talks to play Wonder Woman in the Justice League movie.
Peter Facinelli Signs on For a Twofer of Movies

Wondering where you can find Twilight's Carlisle Cullen after this Summer's release of Eclipse? I've got good news: Peter Facinelli has lined up two new roles, which will both be directed by Michael Corrente.

The first is Loosies, which Facinelli wrote himself, about an NYC pickpocket who learns that a woman he had a one-night stand with is pregnant. The second is Paz, a biopic about boxer Vinny Pazienza, who made a comeback after suffering a near-fatal car accident.

I'm pleased to see Facinelli tying up more films, since Breaking Dawn may be the last time we see him as Carlisle.

90210 "Rats and Heroes": Most Scandalous Moments

Blackmail, stripteases, girl-girl kissing - oh the drama. The kids of West Beverly return from winter break on 90210 this week, and we're once again dealt a heavy dose of high school salaciousness. Silver and Naomi come back from a tanning spree in St. Barts bent on making things right with their guys, Annie is still dating Jasper (not by choice), and Navid is cooking up revenge in the form of cocaine. Even the adults get caught up in theatrics.

It's just the sort of soapy fun that I like from a show of this sort, so needless to say, I felt pretty satisfied. Let's break down the particularly jaw-dropping snippets when you read more.

Jasper blackmails Annie into being his girlfriend. Not that we didn't all see this coming. Hello, the guy delivers flowers by breaking into her house - I feel like he's ready to go all Mark Wahlberg in Fear on her. Despite their previous argument over his drug selling, Jasper's still acting all eerily peachy keen, so Annie tells him she wants to break up. He, in turn, pulls out the standard guy rebuttal: you know, "if you break up with me, I'll tell everyone you ran over my uncle." Stuck in a tough spot, Annie agrees, despite the please-don't-kiss-me-anymore faces she makes. Dude, she's just not into you.

Navid tries to plant drugs on Jasper. He coerces Dixon into stealing the combination to Jasper's locker from his dad's office so they can sneak cocaine into Jasper's belongings. Dixon at first refuses, but seeing Annie still stuck with her bad boyfriend, he agrees to take part. The guys appear to pull off their plan as the drug dogs make their way through the hallways, but (plot twist!) there aren't any drugs in Jasper's locker - they've "mysteriously" made their way into Navid's, and he gets carted away.

Adrianna kisses Gia. Yes, the moment we've seen promo'd up the wazoo finally happens. Adrianna confides in Gia about her addiction issues, and Gia hands over her phone number as a means to help . . . or could it be for romantic reasons, too? Later at a friend's sister's 21st birthday, Gia bumps into her ex-girlfriend with someone new, and Adrianna helps out by pretending to be her date, planting a kiss on her. Adrianna doesn't seem to be that blown away, but Gia certainly looks stunned.

Selfish Dixon squashes a Silver-Teddy romance. When he returns from break, he's all hyped up on telling Silver his feelings, but she puts a cork in that by admitting their kiss was a mistake. Dixon plays along but tells Teddy that he's thinking of getting back with Silver. That spawns Teddy to take back his womanizing persona. So thanks to Dixon, no one's happy - except for Dixon, naturally.

Is Debbie's eye wandering? She finally confronts Kelly about her crush on Harry (while Harry's sweating bullets), and the two walk away friends with Debbie offering to set Kelly up with her hot yoga instructor. Here's the problem: the beefcake seems to be way more into Mrs. Wilson. We've heard that Rob Estes is leaving the show, and I can't help but wonder if a painful affair is how the writers plan on giving him the ax.

Naomi does the old naked trench coat move. After a particularly painful first date with Liam, Naomi resorts to a new tactic to keep the spark going between them. It works of course, and the two get it on in his boat, but I think it's pretty obvious that their deeper problems - like actually being able to talk to each other - are still there. Ivy is ready to swoop in at a moment's notice, though. Did you see the pure glee on her face when Liam confides in her about the couple's problems?

Tell me, what moment shocked you the most? Was it the drug switch? Debbie's new admirer? And please, can't we just get rid of Jasper? I'm dying to see the guy get what's coming to him.

Familial relationships are often ripe for dramatic conflict and a few sniffles, and Happy Tears positions itself as such. Jayne (Parker Posey) and Laura (Demi Moore) are sisters who visit their father Joe (Rip Torn), a perverted yet somehow charming old man suffering from a serious case of dementia. Like many movie siblings, they're polar opposites: Jayne is the spoiled younger sister who lives in La La Land; Laura is more practically minded and down to earth.

Their bond (and sometimes hatred) often feels real (hey, they even look like sisters!) and could have made for a nice, simple drama on its own. Instead, the film gets lost in the midst of imagined sequences in Jayne's mind, making you wonder what kind of film Happy Tears really is. A sweet drama? A dark comedy? An art house film? As one of the dream scenes takes a naked Jayne flying on a giant jellyfish, I found myself wishing that the film had just stayed grounded.

For more on what I mean, read more.

The story takes off as Jayne arrives at Joe's broken-down home, immediately calling him "daddy" with a smile, not even recognizing that he's sitting in the kitchen apparently unaware that he has no shirt on. Despite her grand illusions of the man he used to be, present-day Joe is incontinent and dying, and he's taken up with a crack whore (Ellen Barkin) who's perhaps even nuttier than he is. But even with the mounting evidence, Jayne continues to don her rose-colored glasses, opting instead to search for buried treasure in his backyard (a tale he used to tell the girls as kids) and losing herself in childhood memories. She has to come to grips with who her father is as a person and her own less-than-perfect life, and it's Laura who has to help her.

Demi Moore pulls off a hardened but strong woman while Posey, never one to stray from quirky roles, displays a nice undercurrent of self-doubt alongside her delirium. Barkin and Torn are equal parts hilarious and sad.

The actors have an easier time balancing a dual nature than the film does. As Jayne jumps around in her imagination, we too abruptly switch from reality to fiction. As a result, the tone of the film dabbles in tender, trippy, and darkly funny, but these elements compete rather than complement each other. As we near the finale, the film tries to salvage itself by coming back to earth on a sweet note, but such an ending, while nice, unfortunately can't compensate for its strangeness.

I've already shared a sampling of the DVDs that are available today, but if you're in the mood for music, these three new releases should provide a little something for everyone.

Nice and easy: Juliana Hatfield proves she's a one-woman show with Peace & Love, which she produced entirely by herself - even releasing it via her own label. As such, Hatfield resorts to minimalist acoustics which give the tracks a straightforward feel. Even her lyrics seem more vulnerable, as she sings on "Evan" (about her complex relationship with longtime collaborate/friend, The Lemonheads' Evan Dando), conceding "I just love you, I guess." Sad, heartfelt, simple.

Cover me sad: Eight years after his last solo album, Peter Gabriel is releasing Scratch My Back (available now on his website), a compilation of covers including Regina Spektor's "Apres Moi" and Arcade Fire's "My Body Is a Cage." The idea is for the artists to return the favor at a later date by redoing Gabriel's own hits for a second disc. Gabriel gives each track a more somber, grittier spin (the best example perhaps being of Paul Simon's "Boy in the Bubble") - it just makes me curious for the follow-up. I wonder what Simon or David Bowie would do with something like "Shock the Monkey"?

One more release to check out when you read more.

Moody musings: Hard rockers Story of the Year name their latest The Constant, because of the constant influence music has on their lives - and in honor of one of their favorite TV shows, Lost. Great title aside, the songs themselves remind me more of Twilight tunes: angsty tracks riddled with dramatic lyrics about love lost (as on, "I'm Alive" which compares heartbreak to being buried) and love kept (as on "Holding On to You").

Grey's Anatomy Recap, "Valentine's Day Massacre"

It's Valentine's Day on Grey's Anatomy, but - surprise! - most of the doctors aren't exactly in the holiday spirit. A big damper is put on the day when a roof collapses on a local restaurant, sending a slew of lovebirds, waiters, and the like into Seattle Grace.

V-day isn't without a bit of magic though. Meredith makes some major strides for Derek, Arizona plays matchmaker for Bailey, and Lexie gets some words of wisdom from an unlikely source. To chat it about it, just read more.

Naturally Mere and Der's double date with Cristina and Owen is trounced by trauma, but I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that night out. I also thought it was sweet that Arizona made sure to have early dinner plans with Callie so they could swap (and show off!) their matching necklaces later.

Bailey finally has a love interest! I thought it would take more than just a couple of episodes for her to warm up to the cute anesthesiologist, but by the end of the episode, she agrees to a dinner date. It's about time she got in on all the hooking up that's been happening around the hospital for years.

Of course, being Chief isn't all Derek had dreamed (though if doctors looked like Patrick Dempsey in real life I'm not surprised they'd want him on TV). I'm already wondering if there's going to be some kind of division of power once Dr. Webber comes back so that Derek can perform more surgeries.

Meredith performs her first duties as "Mrs. Derek Shepherd," including ditching the scrubs for a fancy brunch. I was happy that she complained a little at the end of the episode - she may have grown up for Derek, but this is still dark and twisty Mere we're talking about here.

Guess newly blond Lexie's relationship with Karev is going to be more than a one-night stand, but is Sloane going to try to get her back now that he's off the hook for grandpa duties? I kinda hope so - I've warmed up to Karev over the years but his relationships inevitably seem to lead to trouble. Just to complicate things further, I wouldn't mind seeing Lexie hook up with pretty boy Avery (who finally acknowledges his beauty - it's about time!).

Teddy's overshare session with Hunt made me cringe a little (waxing isn't a topic I usually breach even with my best of guy friends), but you've gotta feel for her as the odd woman out in their twisted little love triangle. Do you think she really wants to be friends, or is it all a ploy for her to make a move when Hunt and Cristina have their next fight?

As much as I would have liked to see Mark and Callie trying to raise a baby together (talk about a 21st century family), how could they possibly have time for a kid? Do you think this is the last we'll see of little Sloan?

What'd you think of the episode? Did the patient love story pull on your heartstrings? Are you looking forward to next week's flashback episode?

The Vampire Diaries "Fool Me Once": The Good, The Bad and The Bloody

It's tomb raider week on The Vampire Diaries as we finally set foot inside - while some step out - of the storied tomb.

The show is as intense as we've come to expect from the freshman series, and I think it's a fitting way to end things for a bit (the show is on hiatus for the next few weeks). I'm dying to discuss it, but since everything's a spoiler, come chat with me when you read more.

The Good

I liked that everyone is on the same page in this episode. This week is all about the tomb - everyone either wants in or is somehow involved in getting in. Anna and Ben are holding Bonnie and Elena in a motel room to get in on the action - Elena's leverage and Bonnie is needed for her witchery. Damon's M.O. has been all about the tomb for the past few episodes, Stefan is trying to keep Elena safe, Grams has to help Bonnie with the spell, and finally, a freezing-looking party in the woods means Jeremy is nearby too.

Damon and Elena have some amazing moments this week. When he's still angry with her, he coldly tells Stefan that he hopes Elena dies at the hands of Anna and Ben. You know what they say about a vampire scorned . . . anyway, Elena tries to make good with him in order to get the spellbook, and even though she goes because she's trying to manipulate him, they both get vulnerable. "You and I, we have something," she tells him. Yeah they do. Wanting him to trust her, she removes the necklace. How sexy is Damon re-fastening it on her? I had chills. More chills came when he tells her that he never compelled her on their road trip because he "wanted it to be real." The hug they share later when Damon doesn't find Katherine in the tomb is a comforting one - not sexy, but another thing that's real between them.

It's always awesome when Grams is around, especially when she's literally giving Damon a headache. Just for giving her attitude! Love it. The sassy grandmother is necessary to help with the spell, and even tries to trick Damon; she never unseals the tomb, she just opens the door and makes it so vampires can't come out. Sadly, it demands too much of her and she passes away later that night. I was devastated at this turn, since I love Jasmine Guy's character and wonder what this means for Bonnie. How will she learn to be a better witch?

Twist! Katherine is not inside the tomb! I honestly did not see that coming, but it's a juicy development. Pearl, newly freed by her daughter Anna, tells Damon that Katherine charmed her way out of the tomb, seducing a guard. Pouring salt directly into his wounds, Anna admits she saw Katherine in Chicago in 1983, and knew where Damon was but simply didn't care. Damon's evil, but his heart is breaking; what's he going to do now that his hundred-plus-years quest to find the woman he loves was all a waste? My guess is that this demoralized Damon will continue to hunt Katherine - but this time, with bitter malice.

Is it wrong that I don't hate Anna so much? She just wants her mom back and doesn't kill Jeremy even though she could. I also kind of want her - and Pearl - to stick around.

The Bad

Look alive, Bonnie and Elena - before Stefan throws the curtains in the motel open to save the girls, I was exasperated that they hadn't thought of that themselves first. Even if one of them weren't a witch, I'd think these two could think of some way to escape Ben. Just once I'd like to see a girl on this show, namely Elena, rescue herself.

Jeremy <strike>Googles</strike> Bings vampires . . . because? I know he had been doing research into Mystic Falls's monstrous history, but it kind of comes out of left field. I don't know what I'm more perplexed by - the blatant product placement or the lack of reasoning for Jeremy to be researching with a headache.

The Bloody

My skin crawled the whole time Elena is inside the tomb. All those gray, dessicated faces and bloodshot eyes! Eek. That's not even as bad as it gets for her inside; Anna uses Elena's wrist as a snack for her mom to come back to life.

I knew nothing good would come of the blood bag Damon smashes on the wall of the tomb when he can't find Katherine! One vampire gets a taste and the strength to leave. Look forward to some animal attacks in the near future, Mystic Falls.

Considering we have a few weeks until we get another new episode of the show, I'm pretty satisfied with this episode. We finally have an ongoing storyline wrapped up, and the cliffhanger isn't as torturous as it could have been. What did you think of the episode? And what do you think Katherine has been up to - and how soon we'll see her? Tell me below, and in the meantime, don't forget to join the Hooked on Vampire Diaries group in the Buzz Community!

Let's Get Lost: "What Kate Does" Recap

After the two-hour premiere packed in countless WTF moments, this week's Lost scales us back to a slower pace. As you might guess from the episode title, we're mainly following Kate this time around after she hijacked a cab - and during her escape from the temple (more on that later). Also picking up where last week left off: Sayid's miraculous resurrection, which turns out, may not be a good thing after all.

I've probably already given too much away (this photo alone is too revealing!), so let's go into total spoiler territory here, and chat about the episode in full. Just read more.

I'm dying to talk about Sayid's pill. Dogen - the spooky head of the temple who refuses to speak in English - gives Sayid a test by strapping him to a torture device. Sayid supposedly doesn't pass, so Dogen resorts to plan B, which consists of a pill. Turns out it's poison, and Dogen says a darkness is "claiming" Sayid, at which point he'll be impossible to save (read: evil). This could go one of two ways: Sayid becomes bad, or he finds a way to beat it. Where do you think it's headed? And what exactly happened in the water to prompt this?

Sawyer threatens the Others at gunpoint, so he can flee the temple. Kate offers to go after him to bring him back, but she's in for a rude awakening when she discovers him in his old house with an engagement ring (anyone else wondering how he tracked down a diamond ring?). Sawyer reveals that he was planning on proposing to Juliet - makes you wonder if Kate will finally end the love triangle and resign herself to Jack. Also, why do the Others say that it's imperative that Sawyer return?

As we saw before, Kate holds up a cab at gunpoint with Claire in the vehicle. She kicks her out, but has a change of heart upon discovering Claire's mommy things. They go together to visit the couple who's supposed to adopt Claire's unborn baby, but the woman says she can't because her husband left her. Right then Claire goes into labor, and Kate drives her to the hospital. I don't know why Claire is so quick to trust an ex-con, but we get a great cameo by Ethan, as in, Dr. Ethan Goodspeed, Claire's delivery doctor! I loved the irony here, especially when Ethan says he doesn't want to stick Claire with a needle unless he has to - he certainly wasn't so polite when he was poking and prodding Claire on the island. Do you think Claire will keep Aaron, or do you have any theories on someone else ending up with him instead? Do you think this is the last we've seen of Claire and Kate's relationship on the mainland?

Speaking of the hospital scenes, did anyone else notice how Kate almost seems to have a moment of recognition when she hears the name Aaron? More and more, the evidence seems to point - at least for me - that they're experiencing some weird dual reality. Do you agree?

Back on the island, Claire's alive! But she's changed. In perhaps the biggest shocker of the episode, we spot a jungle Claire, after she shoots down two Others who are attacking Jin. What's with her new persona? Well, if Dogen is to be believed, she's infected with the same disease as Sayid, as he tells Jack, "It happened to your sister." Let's not forget, Danielle Rousseau told of a "sickness" that forced her to kill her entire team. Does the same fate await Claire and Sayid?

Did you miss Locke/smoke monster and Ben in this episode? I did, and I cannot wait to see what Locke does with Sawyer next week, like the promo suggests.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts about anything and everything! What do you make of the latest speedbump in the Kate-Sawyer-Jack love triangle? And what will become of Claire's return? Let's start swapping speculation in the comments.
